Dunno whether to go to my Grandads (don't have Sky so have seen all games there) or go to the pub. 15.gif

Italy are winning 1-0 at Half Time, Scotland will need something special in the second half. The goal came after about 70 seconds.

EDIT: Italy won the game 2-1 at Full Time with a goal in added time. Scotland played brilliantly but missed a couple of great chances to score and ultimately paid for it.

OMG, we was robbed! Agreed, Faddy should have taken that chance to get us ahead, but from what possible angle does that look like a free-kick to Italy? If that decision hadn't been given, we probably would have drawn. I fail to see how that is a free-kick to Italy, there are two possible choices, a throw in to Scotland, or a free-kick to Scotland. I just.... Argghhh!! Anyway, we played fantastically this campaign, and we can have no complaints, surely. To finish third in a group with the world champions, the world runners up and the world cup semi finalists is phenomenal.

We just have to look forward to next Sunday when the draw for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers are made!

No England, No N. Ireland, No Scotland, No Wales... Home Internationals anyone? 3.gif

This is the first time England have failed to qualify for a major tournament since the 94 World Cup, and the first time failing to qualify for the European Championship since 84. Their downfall was putting Scott Carson in goals IMO, and a 4-3-3 formation. Carson is good, but he has played one match for England, and it was a friendly, then he gets thrust into such an important game, it's obvious that he is nervous, I know how he felt when he let in that first goal, but unfortunately a lot of England fans will simply see it is as a sign of little talent, which I think is wrong. Also, they should have played a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 and simply sat back and go for a draw, it would have meant that both sides go through, but instead they went trying to score, and got caught on the counter attack thrice.

Anyway, Home Internationals would be good, give the Brits something to watch next summer, but well done to all the teams who have qualified, we will continue to watch your progress here!

I'm so disappointed Northern Ireland didn't get through, it was a outside chance, but would have been nice.

England not getting in I find hilarious, supposedly some of the world's greatest players, about time English football has a good long look at itself and maybe the clubs should start promoting local talent instead of buying in international stars (I know some already do, but it's not good enough). Maybe then they will have good player stock for future games. Sorry to hear about Scotland, and Wales also, but England deserve to have not got through, the standard of play was awful.

Anyways, I don't care too much, I'm more a rugby person.

I just heard about Mclaren's sacking. I say about time! but the question is who will replace him. All the papers are saying that It could be either Jose Moaninho, Martin O Neil or Arse-ne Wenger!!

Lol, Jan, well, if Scotland can beat France (twice) and lose narrowly to Italy (on the grounds of a dodgy decision), I think you have little to worry about. But that is one very bad group... Also, I look forward to playing you in the WC 2010 Qualifying, I would put my money on Scotland and the Netherlands to qualify!

It's official, Euro 2008 is finally here!

    Switzerland 0-1 Czech Republic

The Czechs were a lucky winner, because the Swiss were clearly better and (surprisingly) had some great chances. But once again experience prevailed over youth. It was kinda frustrating being a Switzerland fan... Frei out, Vonlanthen hits the crossbar and they were denied two penalties that could have been given.

next match is Portugal vs Turkey (starting in a couple of minutes). It'll be interesting to see how Portugal can benefit from what is maybe the best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo.

    June 7

    Portugal 2 - 0 Turkey:

What a spectacular game by Portugal. Turkey failed to show their playmaking talent once the Portuguese drawed back. Cristiano Ronaldo made a great game, he's much more of a team player now than he was back at the World Cup.

    June 8

    Austria 0 - 1 Croatia:

Austria will be one of this year's surprises, even if they should fail to qualify for the quarter finals. They made a great game after Croatia stopped playing after 30 minutes. If it wasn't for that unnecessary challenge by Aufhauser which led to the penalty, they could have won one point.

    Germany 2 - 0 Poland:

What a surprisingly great game by Lukas Podolski, scroing both Germany goals. In this form he'll be a candidate even for Premier League. But only if he can conserve that confidence -- which he failed to do last season with Bayern Munich.

    Group C action tomorrow:

    Romania vs France

    Netherlands vs Italy

I'm very excited, this group will be the toughest... no less than 3 teams are favorites to win the title and Romania is said to be one of the surprises of the tourney.

EDIT: Oops, of course it's June and not January... hehe, what was I thinking...

Sounds like a conflict of interests there 4.gif. I also think Italy will win, the only question is: how well does their defense without Cannavaro? EDIT: On the other hand, we haven't had a draw yet, maybe I'll say they draw.

Yes I would agree that a very big name is absent, like England.

    Who's going for Spain here??

Come on Romania! I have money riding on you boys!

Seriously though, if we defend like w did today against France we could go a long way. Just lacking a bit in the final third.

I'm pining for an England in this tournament, but alas. We're not good enough when it counts. Capello can change that though, i'm sure... I think!

Congrats to Holland. That was a great game. I'm pleased for Van der Sar. That save from the free kick was practically an assist!

I've watched all the games, and Italy and the Netherlands put on the best show so far.

I'll be watchig with interest as a football fan, but it's hard to feel any passion for the tournament.

Ah, good ol' Holland and Van der Sar. Best game we've had so far.

    Still rooting for Portugal though!
