Back to the Future vs. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Yet another debate by Leo, but this will be interesting. I know they're separate movie genres, but they're also classics from the late 80's. Personally, I'm more of a Ferris than a Marty, but the music from BTTF was much better. Heck, I'm listening to it now! BTTF had the DeLorean, but then again, Ferris Bueller's Day Off had the Ferrari, and who could pass up fine Italian automobile engineering? Well, which is it? Again, different genres, different plots. They both get the girl in the end, that's all that matters.

I liked both movies equaly. BTTF had a better story but Feriss had beter pranks.

Fast times was much better then Ferris.

Reminds me that I actually need to watch Back to the Future.

As for Ferris, I watched that one for the first time a couple weeks ago because I'm trying to watch about forty to fifty culturally significant comedy films in an attempt to understand the film references made by people my age. I was quite surprised that the film stood the test of time to the point where I could understand it despite never having lived the '80s experience.

I don't think story was ever the point in that film. It was definitely about seeing what antics they'd come up with next.

As for the guy getting the girl, what a cliche. Life's nothing like the movies.

hears Ben Stein------------

Bueller , Bueller , Bueller...

Seriously though, I don't have the knowledge that Topcliff has about the guitar that marty used, lol, but I have to say that BTTF still has me wishing that I could get my flux capacitor to atleast power my Mr.fusion so I could travel through time!

Kindofa tough call, but it's gotta go to Bueller. Yeah, I have a strong hometown bias. Plus, there was that creepy Oedipal undertone to BTTF. BTW I still practice the water-drop sound Cameron is making at the end of Bueller...

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

Back to the Future was a bigger movie but Ferris is so much cooler than Marty McFly.  I'm done with BTTF but I'll almost certainly watch Ferris again in the future.
