I know I've read this somewhere in my distant past, but can't recall, nor can I find by searching,  what it is indicating. What does it mean when a power tower has "lightening" sparks around it?

 Thanks.. 4.gif

electricity funding is too low, don't know what the effects of sparks are...

Some part of your grid is underfunded. This often happens when you set the funding in the WTE plant to zero.  Sparky towers may eventually overheat and burn down.

The sparks can actually start fires in surrounding tiles (not just the towers themselves).  It is better to raise funding then risk the chance of burning down a tower and losing power to part of your city.

In all my time playing I have often had sparkly towers. I've never had a fire result. Of the comments above it COULD result from 0 funded WTE as I often use this mechanism. However, it occurs in tiles where the is no WTE. And it also occurs in cities where I have what would seem to be more than adequate funding. For example it was happening ot a smallish city with one power plant (fundied a good 20% over usage) and no WTE. It happens in cities where all Power is purchased (or almost all.. maybe a wind tower) etc.. It seems to me there is more to this than we know. Be interesting to find a good answer. BTW there is a GOOD way to find the "sparklies" .. hehe.. if you put the "desirability" filter on and scan at relative close range.. no more than 3 pops back from closest. Anyways.. thanks to all who have responded. I have tested the funding thing, and don't think that is it.. however I admit I don't know what it is.. 4.gif

I've had the same sparkly tower thing happen before as well.  I never decrease funding for my utilities and the sparkles have shown up even when my supply is well above my demand.  For me, it's always a neighbor connection tower or one very near the neighbor connection tower.  I've always resolved it by just adding another tower as a replacement then demolishing the sparkly one.  No idea what causes it, beyond what I've read in this thread.

Probably a bug with the drop off.Odd bugs happen at the drop off.I have only had problems with towers sparking when I lower the power funding to around 20%.It is likely that 20% is the sparking number.Or near it.
