I'm having occasional problems with the game crashing, I'm guessing its something to do with Vista compatibility issues, is there one particular patch to download? Can someone point me in the right direction as this forum is quite confusingly large!

Vista is standard on most dual-core machines,Do you run a dual core? If you do, start the game, press ctrl+esc, use the task manager(Ctrl+alt+del) go to processes, right click Simcity.exe, choose priorities, and set it for high, or realtime as i do(this may cause problems occasionally) then right click again and choose affinity. Uncheck one of the cpu boxes. and you're done! you must start the game first, and you must do it every time you start up the game. This stopped all crashes not caused by plugins and modds.

You may also find that Terraformer is not compatible, I could not run it at all. I have had occasional "not responding" seize-ups in Lot Editor, and it refusing to save a custom lot or two that I had made from lots d/l from the STEX...

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

My Core2 processor runs both cores at 80% and more while playing the game. Kill one core and you have cut the processing power by 50% or more. I think a better way would be to find the actual problem. Drivers, BIOS, and conflicting custom content.

I run the game on two Core2 processors, neither one crashes, so you tell me why I should believe it's the processor rather than poor setups.

Edit:  Companies usually get around to fixing problems with the BIOS, and drivers, but if the user doesn't update then they are going to have problems.

An example is nVidia has fixed problems with the video driver for Vista, the 8800 series cards, and the BIOS for the 680 chipset, and again if the updates aren't installed, problems will arise.

BTW:  Scififan, which Intel Core2 do you use?  Which chipset does the MB have?

Intel E6300 1.86ghz , 256mb Nvidia Geforce 7300 Le. The computer is less then a year old. As far as I know it is all updated. What does "ACCESS_VIOLATION" , mean? Thats why SC4 was crashing.
