Planting Trees

Ok, I've been planting trees.. and yea, it makes a city look nice... BUT, after a while it looks like some of the trees start over as new and parts of the city look bare. They do grow back but it's stupid. Is there a way to stop this and simply have the trees grow and stay grown????

That's part of the game, actually. Trees grow old and die after several years just as they do in real life. Sometimes, they leave behind saplings and sometimes they don't. You have to replant, unfortunately, for full forests sometimes.

Riiiiiight. Trees do grow old and die, BUT when's the last time you saw a tree die 5 years after it's planted? Barring droughts or disease.. trees should live a LOT longer. Even SIM trees. Suprised nobody's made a mod to fix that.

I agree that the Maxis trees don't live long. Particularly the palm trees. But there are custom trees available on the STEX that grow slower and last a lot longer. Could give some of those a try.

Many of the trees on the STEX don't grow at all, and plop full grown.

I'll hafta see if I can find'm.. seems most everything I've seen is for RH.. which I don't have yet.. planning to get it though at some point in the hopefully not to distant future.

Ok, been searching for ploppable non-growing trees... all I find is those meant for Rush Hour........ Any for SC4 by itself?

Also, you can hold cntrl-opt-shift and click the god mode button to get the forest planting tool. Just click and hold, and I don't think trees will plant in zoned areas. If you want just a specific tile planted, then you should just replant.
