Those pictures really do seem impressive. - A step up from SimCity4, yet still keeping the theme of a realistic city building game; they might symbolize exactly what some members of this community are hoping for. 2.gif

The texture of the ground seems very similar to a game I've played called "The Movies." Here's picture of that same texture from the movies.

Unfortunately, the above texture is one of my least favorite aspects of the game. 34.gif

Thanks for the pictures, I can't wait to see what else this new addition has in store for us. 1.gif

Zane... Dude.. the only reason why i referred to it as City Life 2008 is ... because that's what the review said it was... I'm not trying to confuse anyone..

City Life 2008 is a new EP coming out for the first City Life.  It has nothing to do with Cities: Unlimited.  You can read about it here and on Mr. Da Silva's blog.

Those pictures do look awesome, but I don't think those are true highways.  They're more like someone getting creative with the streets and avenues tool.  I wouldn't actually know, though, since I've never played City Life.

Masochist.... Did you even read what my message says... It states that the highways were MODed... or am I using the term incorrectly... lets just say somebody created them for the game

Those are not real highways. In City Life, a highway is defined as any 6 lane road, limited access or not. The ramps that join them are regular two lane streets, with an option in the editor used to place them at very sharp angles to the highway. They still have intersections with stop signs and traffic lights where they intersect the highway. Those pics were intentionally taken from far off to hide the fact that they exist. If you look at the same thing from ground level, the intersections will be there.

By the way, this is from City Life: World Edition, which is already in stores.

Actually even in those far-off pics, while I can't make out stop signs and traffic lights... I do see what appear to be crosswalks... on a highway. 11.gif (I'll just take it as coincidence this thread caught the attention of someone named "masochist" ... )

Spinmaster... No need to take it as coincidence... I was addressing a fellow simtropolitan whose user name is "Masochist".

Why those dirty cheats.... How dare they try and trick us... I actually ALMOST bought City Life and Special Eddie... I'm sorry but you can't make that first picture interchange in NAM without making the interchange ridiculously huge. and 1/4 curves aren't possible in elevated one way roads either.. not without making things unrealistic

chocolate_city: Actually, that interchange in SC4 isn't that big.  It looks a lot prettier in that picture, though.

By the way, there's another thread on ST that shows these pictures...check it out right here.

Heh heh...and yeah, my name's Masochist.  It always was, it (almost) always is...2.gif

Well the highways are okay, but I still like the SC4 Highways much better. And if these are doctored pictures, than City life isnt very good, is it?

What you see in those pictures does not require any mods to build, because it is not a real highway. You only have to use the built in editor to remove the angle restrictions in order to make intersections that resemble highway ramps, but function as normal street intersections. If you need more proof, go to the City Life forums. The guy who made the highways says himself that they were built in the way I described.

Actually, masochist, they were created in-game, using different roads, bridges, etc. They are created and editable in-game. So it's like creating a highway by only stretching road pieces across to the other one. Not very realistic, but it's creative and it still works.

Those highways in those pictures are created without a "Angle to small" restriction, enabling more curve like intersections.

and if anyone was wondering, i do not work for Monte Cristo, just a City Life Fan.

Lets just say I'd buy the next gen City Life vs SCS. I agree about not too realistic but its a great start!
