BAT Request Idea

I was thinking that if you look at the BAT request page and look through the pages - it truly a mess

some have been BATted, others haven't - you don't know where to start - I'm thinking of making a fully functional BAT request that wouldn't be like that - it wouldn't be a page full of posts but a page where people can write in the name of the building they want to create - small details etc.

and send it - then once the information has been sent it is put onto a lists for BATters to see - they can look to see what people want BATted and what they would like to BAT without going through pages of posts and BATting something that someone has already BATted - It would mean an end to needless threads people keep starting up asking for BATs instead of using the BAT Request thread - and saves server space

Thanks - It would be a lot easier to manage and It wouldn't put BATters off seeing what people want BATted.

I might incorparate a version into the new SC4P exchange but I think one at ST ould be much better

And I think the thread is there to make them easy to ignore because it is.  Go read any BATter telling someone off in a fresh request thread.  None ever stop to say 'oh that's a good idea', or 'lets do that'  its ALWAYS (verbatim I might add) "Please place all requests in the (BAT/MOD/etc) request thread."  I've never known someone to BAT (save a few truly prolific  BATters; OP4 and Tonkso come to mind) who would fill a request.  Since most BATters seem full of inspiration, and adament about the placement of requests, I think it's a safe deduction that we have the thread to ignore the requests, not to make them easier to fill.

It's not that I don't like the idea cleaner, I think theres a lot of SC4 and ST related items that could have a nice database and user interface very similar to this; I just don't think you'll find much appreciation among the people you're supposedly trying to help.

And I don't think people requesting BATs really care if it's been requested before or if any such system is easy to use.  Its my guess that most requesters aren't truly pursuing the creation of a project the requester will cherish but are looking for a sounding board to shoot off a few ideas they think would be cool  in the moment...not something they necessarily think is worth the tens of hours of work involved in each project.

Edit: Also, software is freely available that does this on forums.  A lot of bit torrent trackers have systems similar or identical to the one you've described.

anyways - Yeah I know you can do this easily - I'll add one to SC4P and if it doesn't get used then I'll ditch it - I'm all ears open Davd but thanks for your thoughts

There's a lot of truth in what you said and this is one of the reasons that I stopped BATting for the STEX some years ago or so.

Filling requests though is another thing. There's a lot of work implicated with each BAT. I didn't ever want to fill a request simply because I didn't like the projects they asked for. I wanted to BAT what I felt like BATting and that is the way that most BATters think, I'm sure. I am also sure that you as BATter rather be BATing a model that you have in mind than a thing that someone asked you to do and you don't even care about.

Although some ( a few) of the request have been either willingly or by chance fullfilled in this Request thread , most of what that thread is all about in my opinion is simply to give us BATters an idea here and there, I mean not to what it was asked about, but giving an idea of something that had similarities with the demand. Anyway that is way I see the whole reason for this thread and it is a good thing since many excellent BATs were born because of it.

I just think of the BAT request thread as a place so that BAT requesters can stop bugging us in chat, or our own threads...

And btw, Constantina isn't even female, he's a fraud, it has been proven many times, even here, his last "stunt" was to pretend he was some guy nicknamed Madeira, on SC4D.
