Questions about water pollution

Hi.

I know that Water Treatment Plants need not be connected to the water system by pipes.

so, if i connect it i only reduce flammability?no other effects? it seem quite unrealistic...

another question:

wp only affects mayor ratings, so i can ignore it unless pollution reachs my pump?

and If i make 2 distinct pipe layer, one for residential/commercial and one for industrial, will advisors complain about WP? i will try it, but have you already made any experiment?

thanks

The treatment plant needs to be connected by a pipe to the water system, otherwise it doesn't affect the water system.

Pollution affects the water in the area of the pollution, if the water pump is not in the area of pollution, it's capacity won't be reduced by pollution.

Once connected to the waterpipe system , the Water Treatment Plant will keep the pollution out only on the tiles that are watered, meaning all that is connected to the pipe system.

I don't understand though what the flammability has to do with this? Flammability of what?

If you have water pollution, you can test it for yourself.  It might clean up the water in a few tiles adjacent to the plant if it is not connected to the piping system, but that's all.

The Water Treatment Plant has a limited radius, so in a large city, one won't cover the entire city.

Oupss, that's right, I forgot that the normal version has only a certain limited radius. I am so used to my version with a full large city radius that I forgot about that..

Still can someone please tell me what's this with  the flammability subject on water treatment plants?

about flammability: I was talking about flammability of the water treatmenet plant itself... it's reduced if any lot is connected to water, so i think that connecting water treatment plant itself will reduce its flammability...i hope it's clear...

    thanks to all.

i thinks radius for water treatment is 48 (tiles? i think so...on guide is not specified...48 meters will be 3 tiles, too little) also if it's not connected...i will try asap...

    bye

i've tried to place a water treatment plant without connecting it to pipes and it works! water pollution is reduced by 300 in (more that, really) 48 tiles... repeat, without connecting it to pipes...

In my game the treatment plant doesn't need to be connected and the flammiblity would be reduced if the treatment plant would be in the vicinity of the water pumps or pipes

In my experience, water pollution certainly affects demand when it gets bad enough, though not sure to what extent or which sectors.  High wealth seems logical.  I have had advisors telling me to clean it up regularly!

I've also tried connecting and not connecting treatment plants and concur wih most viewpoints here, that if they are not connected they will only serve a very small radius.

In practice, cities which don't have high concentrations of dirty industrial or agricultural spread thoughout the city (and mine tend to have one or maybe two major IM/ID/IA areas), tend to have an "epicentre" of pollution and placing one treatment plant here might be sufficient to reduce the most severe pollution sufficiently to appease your population and avoid the expense of building two in different positions to try and cover the entire city.

    Hope that helps.

but are you using the standard water treatment plant? i've no mod and sc4 deluxe and also when water treatment is not pipe-connected it reduce pollution in big area (more than 48 tiles, however...)
