    Good news!

    The file isn't corrupted! Woo!

In other news...I've started Harding's smaller sister city, San Juanita. Here are some preview shots.

    Mission2.jpg

The Mission San Juanita and the developed areas of downtown.

    Railroad3.jpg

San Juanita is a massive rail hub on the Rocky Mountain Line, which runs between Santa Fe and Boise.

One of the neighborhoods, Sun Dance Valley.

Finally, an overview of the currently developed area.

Well, I have a nice, small update for you all...a map of AltAmerica, the country that Harding exsists in. It's (guess what??) an alternate form of America.

    altam2.jpg

Cities in black are ones that have been done in SimCity. Cities in grey are ones that will eventually be done in SimCity (not necessarily like their real world counterpart.)

Some cities are the same as in our world, (cities in particular not mentioned on the map) like Washington or Boston. Some, like New York, Galveston, and Atlantic City share a name and geographical location, but little else. Others are built on real world cities (Lafayette=Pensacola, FL) and the rest have no geography like in our world.

    New High Speed Link
    for San Juanita-Harding

    Hispeed.JPG

A new proposal has hit the books in the Harding Metropolitan Area for a high speed Maglev link between the major cities of Harding and Santa Juantia. This link will be raised above the ground, possibly having stops in large suburbs along the route. The proposed route starts at Harding Central Station, goes around the Mount Pleasant Range by way of Walker Pass and ends in Mission Valley Station in Santa Juanita.

The route is now open for discussion.

There's been a skyscraper boom in Santa Juanita. Even though much of the outskirts haven't been developed yet, I'm going to give you a tour of some of the new landmarks.

    overview2.JPG

    An Overview.

    Federal Plaza.JPG

Federal Plaza, the core of city government. There are three buildings--1, 2 and 3 Federal Plaza. 1 Federal Plaza is the City Hall. 2 Federal Plaza is the Mission County Courthouse. Finally, 3 Federal Plaza (the skyscraper) is home to many civic and political organizations (like the Democratic Party on the 12th floor, for instance).

    The Fish.JPG

At the other end of the Mission Santa Juanita is The Fish, an oddly shaped office tower. This was built in 1996, at the start of the Santa Juanita skyscraper boom.

    Century Spire.JPG

Century Spire, on the other hand, is the newest skscraper, commemerating the century since the neighboring towns of Mission and Apache Hills came to form Santa Juanita. The border actually east-west through the Mission Santa Juanita. Why were they split so oddly, you ask? Well, I'll save that story for a little more development...

    Mission Valley Tower.JPG

The final stop on our tour is Mission Valley Tower, built in the early 1970s to commemorate the 200 years since the Mission Santa Juanita was built.

Skyscrapers are still fun, aren't they... 10.gif No matter how adept I get with making farms and suburbs, I still love going into a high density area and watching buildings rise up.

And a nice simple little map and logo. I guess this will be the monorail in game?

And I just noticed I'm in your signature. That's always nice to see. I agree that there are many great off the SCR path CJ's, as you put it, that get ignored. You mention a great selection there.

A small little update before I have to go to work...

    overview817051hr.th.jpg alt=Free Image H

Just a overview of the entire region.

    ===============

Oroen--Actually, its going to be the EL line, simply because there's a greater variety of stations for it and I don't really like how the monorail looks in the game.

And that list is still growing.

    San Tiejo
    Colorado

    not New Californigontington, duh!

The first pics of San Tiejo, to the northeast of Harding and Mount Pleasant. And yes, it does share the name of a city in the Mount Royale CJ.

    santiejo3dr.th.jpg alt=Free Image Hostin

    San Tiejo, Mount Pleasant.JPG

It is right now a very crowded area simply because three major highways all intersect right near each other.

    San Tiejo, Hiway1.JPG

    Interstates 19 and 219.

    San Tiejo, Hiway2.JPG

    Interstates 50 and 219.

    San Tiejo, Hiway3.JPG

Interstates 19 and 50, coming together to go across the San Lucas River and near downtown Harding.

    San Tiejo, Colorado Gardens.JPG

Located here is what is going to be the largest mall in Colorado, Colorado Gardens (still under construction).

    San Tiejo, Rails.JPG

Here, the rail line that continues across the Harding Metro Area through downtown Harding winds through the northern Mount Pleasant Range on its way to the tunnel to Mount Pleasant.

    More construction on the way.

Augh...school must be starting because I have no time for an update.45.gif

    ==============

Gurrgkid--Actually, I'm a geek. I doodle general outlines of the highways and stuff in my school notes and on random pieces of scrap. I do that so often that I have almost a mental map in my mind. Then, I badly make it in paint. I'm glad you like them, though.

sloppet--Oh, funny pun. 30.gif9.gif Thanks for the comment!

    Six Flags Over Colorado
    !!--Under Construction--!!

A new amusement attraction is coming to the Harding Metro Area. Outside of the suburb of San Tiejo, between Harding and Santa Juanita, the Six Flags corporation has bought a huge swath of valley. The park is supposed to include a zoo, aquarium, and water park in addition to a traditional amusement park.

    Park, Entrance.JPG

The main entrance road has already been built off of North Valley Road.

    Park, Amusement.JPG

After the road goes through a narrow pass, it enter a valley where the amusement park will be.

    Park, Aquarium1.JPG

Construction on the aquarium has already been completed.

    Park, Aquarium2.JPG

    Park, Parking.JPG

    Park, Zoo.JPG

The Zoo is the next phase under construction.

    Park, Future Parking.JPG

Area for parking has been sculpted out of a hillside.

    Park, Overview.JPG

An overview of the entire area.

    More to come...!

sorchin--Thanks a lot! It isn't realistic at all to have stuff just go straight up and down; at least, that's my philosophy.

    Traffic_Jam--Thanks for stopping by again!

    screamomatic--Thank you!

jacqulina--Thanks a lot, and thanks for coming by!

cjah--Thanks! Sometimes, Maxis stuff is dead useful and better in some situations than the stuff on the STEX! Not knocking BATters and LOT people, though...

I think this is the first time I've seen the zoo/aquarium kit used in a CJ (I could be mistaken about that). It looks good and makes me want to build my own now. 10.gif I like the little quickie highway map too. I always get perfectionist tendencies and need my maps to look pretty but they're just fine when they're simple and to the point. The gray proposed highways are a nice touch too.
