Riverlake-City-Icon.jpg

This is my first City Journal, it looks like fun so I thought I'd do one!

Riverlake has beaches, mountains, and rivers! Oh and a lake, too. It is home to one of the best driving roads in all of SimWorld!

This is what the city (well it will be a city, for now it's a neighbourhood) currently looks like.

Overview.jpg

This is the first neighbourhood so far, situated next to the beach, and the mountain road, you lucky sims you.

Neighbourhood.jpg

The small island off the coast, yet un-named, is home to many llamas.Offshore-island.jpg

Anyway, the city is already famous for this road, which runs through the mountains, over a narrow river, and eventually rises to the tip of the mountains, giving a spectacular view over all of Riverlake.

Winding-roads.jpg

If only you could actually go there...

Finally, the Mayor (named after me, Thomas Parker) lives right in the mountains with a tricked out pad!

Mayors-house.jpg

Thanks for viewing my CJ, looking forward to your comments and I will update soon!

You are off to a nice start. And, looks like a great home. Will you be hosting a party anytime soon? I hope I am on the guest list. I will be happy to lead a conga line or do the macarena if needed to liven things up!

    Replies:

RaceFan48: Thanks! It's a large tile, and I am aiming for the city to become urban.

    penguin007: I will add more CC's as the city grows : )

Schulmanator: Thanks, and yes, you can visit anytime! You can mingle with the 'un-invited guests'.

    yoshikoroyimara: That's good to hear!

2nerdy4u: Same as the reply to penguin007, and thanks. : )

Ok, updates! The development has boomed quite a bit now, some agriculture has formed, and more and more sims are moving in.

    Overview-2.jpg

I have placed the Seaview Tower (credit to Equinox) by the sea! (It's only fitting, really.)

    Seaview-Tower.jpg

What's this? A new golf course?

    Golf-Course.jpg

Of course, golf courses are usually played on by wealthy sims, so they have moved in next door, it seems.

    -Residential.jpg

And some more rich people...they get to live next to the main river!

    Mansions.jpg

And to finish this update, is a pic of some o' the farms, look. *Chews straw*

    Farmland-Overview.jpg

Next I plan to build some railway lines, so stay tuned! 1.gif

Seems like those llamas would run out of food supply! Lol, great work so far, looking forward to more. Oh and try not to make your city so griddy.

Looks good, but I can't imagine a solitary tower that large being less than a km from farming areas. Just doesn't seem realistic to me. Of course no one said you had to be realistic...

    Its a nice tower...

jrhnemo: I zoomed into the island recently and the Llamas have gone. I guess you're right, haha!

    RV1428: Thank you.

    homeandaway: Much appreciated 48.gif

2nerdy4u: Yeah, I do see what you mean, but I thought I might as well put it there so my future self doesn't have to!

    Next update will come soon...

    Update

I have put a new Riverlake City Railway which tours the mountains in. When the train reaches the edge looking over the river, the driver tells passengers 'And if you look over the edge, you'll see where the last train fell in!'

    Riverlake-Railway.jpg

The Atlantic Plaza has opened next door to the seaview tower (credit to Oneil_1) I can't decide which is my favourite.

    Atlantic-Plaza.jpg

    Same pic at night.

    Atlantic-Plaza-and-Seaview-.jpg

Some big businesses have established in town.

    Businesses.jpg

The lighthouse keeps straying boats and ships from a horrible fate with the cliffs.

    Lighthouse.jpg

I have built the motorway ahead of time.

    New-motorway.jpg

The Oceanic Homes company has built a holiday resort on the cliffs, which gives views over most of the land.

    Ocean-Apartments.jpg

This is just a pic of the roundabout fountain I made in Lot Editor. Just felt like showing it off 21.gif

    Roundabout.jpg

The house on the left is a residence of none other than Will Nates, billionare founder of Microscotch!

I created some beachfront homes that were inspired by ones I have seen. They're a bit repetetive, but they give the effect I wanted.

    Becahfront-homes.jpg

A (mostly) high tech industrial estate is beggining to develop rapidly.

    Industrial-Estates.jpg

    The new airport...

    Major-Airport.jpg

Meanwhile, high up in the mountain research center, the Mysterons were plotting...(me making fun of my forgetting to turn off the tree planting tool.)

    Research-Center.jpg

The sparkly new shopping mall, where empty parking spaces are few by day.

    Shopping-Mall.jpg

This suburb is pretty good, don't you think?

    Suburbs.jpg

The city's progress so far, population is now about 25,000, so soon I will get me some Hi-Rises!

Hugs to you all, I really appreciate your comments! Making a CJ was a good idea.9.gif

And to penguin007, I have got the BAT, but I find it too complicated and time consuming for me. I'll just stick to the STEX and Lot Editor for now. And thanks for the rest of the comment.

Several (sim) years have passed in Riverlake City, and now its much more like a city, with skyscrapers! And I've made the photos a bit bigger for your viewing pleasure.

The first residential hi-rise in the city is the Bell Tower.
    Bell-Tower.jpg

The spooky St. Chugs churchyard...however I would be more interested in the yellow Lamborghini driving past it!
    Churchyard.jpg

The building in the center is the IBM building from Basingstoke, my hometown! Though I must admit, it's not the prettiest building on the block.
    IBM-building.jpg

When local farmer Mr. Jenkins won the lottery jackpot, he splurged the cash on the biggest manor in Riverlake, now named Jenkins Manor. His kids frequently enjoy playing with their motorboats on the little lake. Spoilt brats.
    Jenkins-Manor.jpg

The One Starr building at night.
