2nerdy4u - Very well! Pictures and Querries of those will be displayed very shortly.

    ObladiOblada - Keep me posted!

iamihop11 - Sweet, college dorm, Whats your major and what college do you attend if you don't mind my asking? Lina Park construction has been authorized to commence and ground breaking shall begin on Sunday Afternoon of August 26th, 2007 ... I will then post your deed and your responsabilities on the update following this...

    ________________________________________________

    Alright, lets get moving..

2nerdy4u and Yoshiisland have requested Data for the Downtown Bridges...

Lets get some data for that!

    First being...

The Eaton Bridge - Hwy 4

    Total Tiles - 98
    Style - Avenue
Formula - 0.5 Points Per Tile
    Equation - 0.5 * 98 Tiles = Cost

    Cost - 49 Points

    Tolled - Additional 20 Points

    Total Cost - 69 Points

    Traffic Querries

    Westbound Lanes:

    Hwy4WB-Bridge.jpg

    Eastbound Lanes:

    Hwy4EB-Bridge.jpg

    Income Produced -

    Style - Avenue
Income Produced by Avenue Tiles - 0.2 Points per CJ Month
    Formula - 0.2 Points * 98 Tiles
Avenue Income - 19.6 Points per CJ Month
    -----Toll----

    Total Commuters - 3544 (Morning / Evening)
    Formula - 0.2 Points per 50 Cars
    3544 Divded by 50 = 70.88
    70.88 * 0.2 = 14.176 = TOLL INCOME
Toll Income Produced - 33.8 Points per CJ Month

Benefit on a 3 CJ month play period -
    33.8* 3 = 101.4 Points
101.4 - 69 Points (Deducted every REAL month) = 32.4 Points Per REAL Month

Total Points per REAL Month WITHOUT Toll = 9.8 Points

    _________________

    Now the next one is....

The South Island Bridge - Hwy 35

    Total Tiles - 84
    Style - Avenue
Formula - 0.5 Points Per Tile
    Equation - 0.5 * 84 Tiles = Cost
    Cost - 42 Points

    Tolled - Additional 20 Points

Total Cost - 62 Points per REAL Month

    Traffic Querries

    Northbound Lanes:

    Hwy35NB-Bridge.jpg

    Southbound Lanes:

    Hwy35SB-Bridge.jpg

    Income Produced -

    Style - Avenue
Income Produced by Avenue Tiles - 0.2 Points per CJ Month
    Formula - 0.2 Points * 84 Tiles
Avenue Income16.8 Points per CJ Month
    -----Toll----
    Total Commuters -  8438 (Morning / Evening)
    Formula - 0.2 Points per 50 Cars
    8438 Divded by 50 = 168.76
    168.76 * 0.2 =
    33.752 = TOLL INCOME
    Toll Income Produced -
    50.6 Points per CJ Month

Benefit on a 3 CJ month play period -
    50.6* 3 = 151.8 Points
    151.8 - 62 Points (Deducted every REAL month) =
    89.8 Points Per REAL Month

Total Points per REAL Month WITHOUT Toll =
    8.4 Points

As we can tell, there's some serious points to be made in owning tolled bridges... The numbers are exponential according to the traffic that uses them so buy carefully. If you buy a bridge with little to no cars then it's not a good idea to toll it as the extra 20 Points involved Per Toll will not make the deal worth it. I know none of you have enough points to purchase the bridges yet so I'll tell you what you can do...

Option A: - Since the bridges are tolled, you can go as much as 20 Points in Debt which will allow you to purchase the bridges however you'll be low on points. The Debt with be instantly paid off within the first Month of adding points... ...
    or
Option B: - You can Co-Sign with a partner who's participating (Example: YoshiIsland and 2Nerdy4u owning the same bridge as partners) and your cost, and monthly points award will be divided equally between your accounts. Only problem is, you both will have to agree upon a name for the Bridge.

    Update 5!

    Newark1.jpg

Good morning citizens and investors of Newark! Today, we're going to have a closer look at the downtown section of Newark and Eaton to get a feel for the economics of this region! but before we get too in debth, lets have a closer morning shot and a cup of coffee... well actually coffee's on me, I'm allergic to caffine... 2.gif

    Newark2.jpg

The city streets seem to be filling up with commuters rushing their way to their desk jobs in the North East Portion of Downtown Newark. It's best if we stay out of their way. The natives here can be very aggressive and the lack of a Highway Patrol in this region can cause for some rude first hand experiences...

    Newark3.jpg

Ah yes, much better... 10 A.M. and mostly everyone is where they need to be which leaves the town - mostly to ourselves. First, lets have a look at a few Key Points in this town and we'll start with the Obviouse

#1 - Newark Central High School and Elementary School - These schools are funded by the States in effort to rise the probability of residents getting an strong enough education to work for the Industries which propel Newark. The Industries are also owned by the States and thus Money out comes Money in...

#2 - Newark Central Hospital - This is the one of few Hospitals on this island that is civilian accessable. It is also funded by the states and was biult primarily to aid against work accidents in which Industries were severely losing money or employees when treatment had to be performed in Europe or The United States, both spanning over a 1,000 Mile Flight.

#3 - Finally, not a utility but the developing urban projects of Midtown! - Midtown is used for Higher Density homes for those who wish to live and work near Downtown. Due to the high residential demand and limited land available, the land value's here are skyrocketing overnight and it isn't easy to get an apartment cheap, even the slummy ones. Also, this area was prone to a severe influx when the price of Fuel rose above $4.00 per gallon making shorter commutes far more desirable... Midtown Extends from West of Highway 35 until the railroad tracks where it proceeds south until the ridge that lets way to the seaport.

#4 - North East Downtown,  The central urban district and regional headquarters for many of the indstries that occupy Newark. - This is the heart of downtown in which you will find the tallest Commercial Offices. This area is also one of the few areas in Newark in which very lucky individuals could find White Collared Jobs. The intense development and economic stress within the Newark Region puts alot of pressure on this relatively small area of land and it can be seen and heard throughout every citizen who dares to work here... - This area extends East of Highway 35 into the Oconee River and North of Highway 4 until reaching the South Shore Rail Line, just south of the East / West Connector.

#5 - South East Downtown, The Southern portion of Downtown, often referred to as The most beautiful portion of Newarks Downtown - This area has been mixxed between high class apartments who's residents enjoy overlooking the Mouth of the Oconee River in which the lights from the South Island Bridge and the Eaton bridge proudly reflect from. Several businesses also reside here aswell. This is the smallest portion of Downtown as it's surrounded by both The Eaton and South Island Bridge. Commercial Office here is relatively light This section also hosts most of the regions main concerts and events as it is the only tourism hotspot in Newark. The entire Downtown area can be seen clearly from the well shaded parks and the ocean breeze is the first felt here aswell as the untouched fresh air of nature.

    Newark4.jpg

A closer look at the resort region of the South East Downtown area..

    Newark5.jpg

Lets cross over the Oconnee river, here we'll find the other half of Downtown where the more wealthy populous of Newark live... Eaton, and Downtown Eaton consists mostly of apartments and Condo's in which residents who desire to live near the refreshing bay of both the Oconee and Atlantic Ocean dwell. This area flourishes with parks and palm tree's. The distance to Newark is still small however no pedestrian travel to the Newark Downtown area exists at the moment. lets have a look to see what we have.

#1. - Eaton Central HighSchool - An American Funded High School built in Eaton to educate those living in the eaton area. This also prevents unnecessary bridge hopping during the rushhour commutes to travel to Newark Central High. The school district also sprawls into the suburban area of Eaton making for a healthy middle class in this area. Neighboring the school is a public library in which research can be quietly performed by both students or citizens.

#2. - South Downtown Eaton - This is where most of the apartment and condomenium development occured. The land values are signifficantly higher as it is locaed on the mouth of the Oconee River and Atlantic Ocean... All of this was once simply farmland however the skyrocketing middle class demand for lofts and an area nearby jobs simply sewed this place into existance. Acres of Farmland was the sacrifice. Highway 4, which used to be 1 lane each way all the way into downtown Newark where it intersected Highway 35 had to be upgraded into a divided highway...

#3. - North Downtown Eaton - Still parralell with the banks of the fresh Oconee river, Eaton has it's jewels of intermixxing parks with condomeniums and high density homes in effort to give the populous a relaxxing feel while offering them convinience. While this area isn't typically as expensive as the South Downtown Eaton area is, it makes an excellent choice to live as the Downtown view of Newark is instantly visable from the shore of the Oconee...

    Newark6.jpg

The Eaton Bridge, Docking Highway 4 just east of the shores of the Oconee in which it proceeds eastward into Eaton, where it degrades into 1 lane each way and proceeds into Millidgeville.

Now lets have a look around the downtown of Eaton....

    Newark7.jpg

South Downtown Eaton, you can immagine, rushhour here is difficult as the roads here once occupied farmland and were exposed to shock of pure urban sprite. Many streets remain unupgraded and several intersections remain uncontrolled by traffic lights.

    Newark8.jpg

This road leads you to Hwy 4.

    Newark9.jpg

Close up on some local condomeniums, Apparently the empty parking lot and empty streets can only mean that mostly everyone here is employed and working their day job.

    Newark10.jpg

Cedar Heights Condo's is sitting between two streets awaiting conditions to call for their upgrades...

    Newark11.jpg

West now, closing in on the Oconee river, biult upon the rising bank as it merges into Mainland are the lofts which sit one atop another, each loft having it's own distinct view of the Newark Downtown area. Named after the river in which it overlooks, Oconee Lofts.

    Newark12.jpg

Closer look at Highway 4 and the two intersections that make up Downtown Eaton before ascending into the Eaton bridge.

    Newark13.jpg

North Eaton Island, an example of the community and city project to leave residents here with a sense of a quiet peacefull urban nature by providing city funded parks and gardens.

    Newark14.jpg

It's not uncommon to see Dates passing through this area as they gaze upon the Downtown Newark reflection over the Oconee River...

Thats all for now... Oh yes, sorry for the grid but most of these images were taken BEFORE I knew how to turn it off... when we come to present, there will be no more grid shots...

Thank you and have fun fellow Simtropolitans...

Aww, man.  I wanted that one!  Oh well, guess I'll go with the Eaton Bridge.  And could I have that tolled?

As for the name I'll leave it at "The Eaton Bridge" for now. Oh, and  a fantastic update, great pictures, you're good with details!

Sure, I'm proud to say that I now attend the very prestigious, second-oldest university in America, "The College of William and Mary in Virginia," generally known as William & Mary, or W&M. It's always ranked the best small public college in the country, and it's the hardest school in VA to get into, the 31st most selective school in the nation. (It's sorta amazing that I got in). Anyway, I intend to pursue studies in English and/or Linguistics. But who knows?

Anywho who who, how'd you like to live in one of the North Riverside Flats? The beach isn't just your backyard, it's so close it's your front yard, too. Sweeeeet!

I love the details of the city, so pics of the region would be awesome, but I also want to know what's happenin' with my boy Soni.

Also, it the plug for Blue Hope in my signature up to par?

    Cheers,

    Isaac

2nerdy4u - It's yours mate! Just be aware and know that even on the interaction level, your choice will advertly affect the course of this CJ and even Soni's story... By the way, when you get more points, I would recommend purchasing insurance for an extra 10 points per month. This will ensure a full refund of your monthly expenses times three should the bridge be sabataged or destroyed. I will post your deed in this update. You will then need to choose your tolling options and how you want it tolled, and it will be included in the following update

Yoshiisland - Don't worry, the primary focus on the CJ is to ensure that there are PLENTY of opportunities for EVERYONE!... The Eaton Bridge is yours and will be tolled, I will post your deed in this update. You will then need to choose your tolling options and how you want it tolled, and it will be included in the following update

iamihop11 - Great to hear school is working out for ya! I actually just purchased my PC to prepare to attend college in my area. Devry University in which I will be majoring in Computer Networking and Systems. - Signature looks nice! Thanks for the advertisement! I will also be posting your deed in this upcoming update. ALSO - For Lina Park I WASN'T able to map out the tiles as accurately as your photo as the actual tiles were quite different but I did make it best suite and completed it anyway and deducted the correct amount of points...

ObladiOblada - Awsome and Thank you! I will get a price for you on the roswell condomeniums, however after doing the math on iamihop11's development, I'd highly recomend you start a residential development since demand is still high and grants are available because the income for massive property is outrageous!

Okay lets get on with the show!

    __________________________________________

First thing's first! Newark has been going through some changes lately as we can all tell so lets have a look at the Newspaper!

    Local Island News

    Newspaper.jpg

Indeed, Lina Park makes Headlines, so lets go have a look at that first!

    LinaPark.jpg

As we can see, The area has been rezoned and currently an residential street is underway of construction. The power company agreed to relocate a set of High Tension Powerlines for the development and for safety concerns. We're still awaiting bus service, The park is underway of planning and then construction. It will probably be ready upon the full development of Lina Park.

*IMPORTANT!!!: For future developments, unless constituted or approved by the Power Companies of Newark, High Tension Powerlines CANNOT be developed on from this point forth!* - This is to maintain realism as yes I am fully aware that zone's carry power, however in real life, it would be impossible to carry Gigawatts worth of electricity through homes from substation to substation without frying the home and its occupants... Thus when planning an area, ask if the powerlines can be relocated, or simply develope around them.

Congratulations iamihop11 for your first development in the Newark Island Region... I now present before you, your deed to this land.. Keep a copy of it for future references as this is how you will keep track of your property...

    LinaPark-1.jpg

    Now for the Bridges...

2Nerdy4u and Yoshiisland - I'll need you to choose a setup for the tolls from the examples below...

    TollAB.jpg TollCD.jpg

    Red Rectangles Represent Tolls.

Grey Lines Represent The Avenue as a Divided Highway.

Option A: Travelers are tolled AFTER they cross the bridge in each direction. Option C: Travelers are tolled on the Northern or Western Portion of the Bridge.
Option B: Travelers are tolled BEFORE they cross the bridge in each direction. Option D: Travelers are tolled on the Southern or Eastern Portion of the Bridge.

2Nerdy4u, congratulations on your first purchase in the Newark Island Region. You now own the South Island Bridge, to be renamed into the Union 93 Propaganda bridge upon completion of the toll setup! Here is your deed, keep record of it!

    SouthIslandBridge.jpg

YoshiiIsland, congratulations on your first purchase in the Newark Island Region. You now own The Eaton Bridge, Here is your deed, keep record of it!

    TheEatonBridge.jpg

Great job guys! I'm so thrilled we finally got this project started and our first purchases were made, even I was alittle worried when we were planning this project but it appears as if everything will be going smoothly! So with that said, lets have a look at our updated points! Also I encourage you to keep track of your own points aswell just incase I make an error it can easily be corrected!

    Update 6

    _____________________________

Newark's economy is propelled by a mighty industrial work force and mining opperations to bring forth natural resources to ship out at the Seaport. Today we're going to have a look at the dirtiest, yet probably the most important side of this city!

    Industrial1.jpg

Just a few miles North of Downtown, where we find the cross section of the Railroad, Highway 202 the local bypass, and Highway 35, we come across a large pollution dirty industrial manufacturing center. This center takes resources found from the mountains north of here and mills them into usable goods, both to be shipped and to be used on this island. The Railroad here serves a major freight station to make transportation to the seaport, possible and economical without jamming the city streets with huge tractor trailors. Also, raw fuel is unloaded and produced here to be sent to the coal power plants North East of here. Highway 35 swiftly passes through the center of this Industrial Exchange on it's journey to the mountains. It crosses the combined Highway 202 / 6 marking 202's halfway mark where 202 proceeds back to Highway 2 in the rural area completing its downtown bypass.

    Industrial2.jpg

A closer look at the Indstries adjacent to the railroad for easy shipping access. This was also once rural lands flush with trees, however Industries used this waypoint area to quickly and conviniently produce and ship goods. A local farmers market is also set up here.

    Industrial3.jpg

Highway 35's intersection with the center of this industrial metroplex was recently upgraded into a traffic light controlled intersection due to heavily increased traffic on the Highway 35 corridoor.

    Industrial4.jpg

After crossing the railroad that services the industrial area, it's time for alittle mountain climbing. Highway 35 USED to proceed up the two lane road that proceeds North West, winding through the houses in process. However this became too dangerous as traffic conditions broadened due to Industrial Boom in the mountains. Highway 35 was destined to be upgraded. DOT gave way to researching the Interstate system and biult a new stretch of High Speed road which would be divided enough to avoid head on collisions, proceeding North East and then North into the Mountains where it will soon remeet it's old alaignment. The Speed limit is 65 MPH; however, there are NO interchanges throughout this portion or commercial services so travelers are adviced to fuel up before entering this section.

    Industrial5.jpg

Upon arriving upon a temporairy flat land mass midway at the top of the Mountains, Highway 35 is reduced into an Avenue where we see more residential development, and the old alaignment of Highway 35 remeets and joins into the Super Highway. We also see where the region's trash is dumped and recycled. Newark has learned to be a very ecinomical island as due to economic crisis throughout the world, procudcing goods isn't so cheap or feasable. Hwy 35 Proceeds North...

    Industrial6.jpg

Soon we enter another large neighborhood area where residents suffer the heavy winds of high altitude living to be close to their work. Highway 35 Proceeds as access to both Downtown (South) and the Industrial Chambers that lie ahead (North). The railroad from our first industrial stations reenter, stage right... Highway 35 proceeds as a 55 MPH highway cutting grades into the steep hills. This portion was also recently upgraded from a two lane road. The median here is rather shallow however due to the fact that they were forced to squeeze the highway into preexisting grades so drivers are still advised to be cautious.

    Industrial7.jpg

The western half of the same residential development, on the western side of Highway 35. It curves gracefully up the hills forming californian style cliffs. Residents at the top enjoy a scenic view of downtown Newark and all the lights below them at night. The local road to the north winds through a tunnel and proceeds North East to meet Highway 35 at even higher altitude.

    Industrial8.jpg

Highwya 35's first intersection for the Industrial Complexes in the Mountains is traffic lamp controlled. This road used to be Highway 35's old alignment however again Highway 35 was relocated and upgraded to serve Industries even further north of here... A commercial zoning here is provided in hope that a Fuel Station would take its place for travelers.

    Industrial9.jpg

The road from the residential area that tunneled through hills, meets Highway 35 with a small shopping convinience area before proceeding into the Industrial Areas east of here. Also traffic light controlled, it proceeds North. Highway 35, due to the grade not being so restrictive in this area is now upgraded with a larger median.

    Industrial10.jpg

The final intersection for Highway 35 and the Industrial complexes that lie South East. This road is the return road from the old road that was once Highway 35. A commercial strip will hopefully be produced here to aid drivers in their journey to the summit of the mountains, where the coal mining occurs.

    Industrial11.jpg

Overview of the old alaignment of Highway 35 where it proceeds up a grade where it is surrounded by industries.

    Industrial12.jpg

Heavy polluting Industries lie upon the railroad tracks to the east. The rail provides access to the Seaport for easy shipping. The road running parralell to it runs southward back to Highway 2, near the Millidgeville border. A Coal Power Plant provides the city below it cheap, feasble power at the cost of filling the air with soot. Powerlines make their way Southward into the city and Northward into the Coaling areas.

    Industrial13.jpg

South east of here, the road proceeds down a grade in which the railroad tracks follow on the upper portion of the grade. Powerlines feed into another nearby coal plant and the industries surrounding it.

    Industrial14.jpg

Northwest, the Road crosses over the railroad tracks and proceeds its journey to Highway 35 and provides more access to the industries surrounding it. As we can see, this area is still developing and populating itself with factories and mills. Steel is happily produced here aswell as refined coal for power plant burning. But several don't realize, that even Diamonds are produced here. The OLD portion of Highway 35 levels from it's grade, finally meeting the industries surrounding it.

    Industrial15.jpg

Overview of this gigantic industrial complex!

    Industrial16.jpg

Highway 35 lowers it's speedlimit to 45 MPH, proceeding through another grade finally approaches the summit where the coal mining occurs. Up here the terrain is much more rigid and difficult to biuld on. Values in this portion are much higher as MUCH fewer industries are capable of biulding a foundation to support a steady, safe, and level biulding in this area...  The railroad tracks are forced into tunneling its way into the Coaling areas.

    Industrial17.jpg

Overview from just south of the Summit. The electrical powerlines manuever around a small mountain ending their path into a powerplant just behind it. Most of the coal plants live in the shadow of Mount Kendra. During work hours, extra light is necessary.  The coal plants sit upon the base of the summit, this is where coal is abstracted.... Highway 35 proceeds around a few bends, crossing railroad tracks for coal shipping, and prepares to end it's journey at the base of the summit for Mount Kendra at a Culdasec for easy truck U-Turns..

    Industrial18.jpg

Highway 35 arrives at abstraction facillities while he railroad reammerges from the tunnles in the debths of the mountains. It is here where freight is sent to a freight station north east of the Abstraction Facilities, and then south into the city of Newark for manufacturing, and shipping.

    Industrial19.jpg

The busy Coal Refining plant is surronded by a powerplant, and several Industries who benefit from both the presence of natural resources, and workers. Also, many factories are biult INTO their own foundations making them levels deeper than they appear. Foundations in this area are VERY pricey. Most of these Industries are American owned!

    Industrial20.jpg

A look at the Extraction Facilities on the rare occurance that the sun comes from hiding behind the mountains. A train is on it's way to a freight station with raw resources.

    Industrial21.jpg

Another look around, The Mining / Refining Plant in which cleans our coal into pure coal and mines coal from directly under the plant.

    Industrial22.jpg

An overview of the final Industrial Complex / Coal mining Center where Highway 35 meets its end and resources / electricity are shipped south into Newark below.

    Industrial23.jpg

A view of the Towering Peak of Mount Kendra overshadowing the Industrial Complex biult upon it. Even at these altitudes, since Newark is close to the tropic's it rarely snows making traveling year round less difficult. Tornado's are never found up this way as the rigid terrains puts an instant stop to the growing winds. However, Mount Kendra is rumored to be Volcanic...

    Trainwreck.jpg

Booom!!! Explosion... The freight delivery that never made it...

Welp, simtropilitans that's all until Update 7!! I hope you've enjoyed this as much as I did... Take care and enjoy!

    Thank you!

How'd you like the news article over your new bridge? 2.gif

Your bridge will be renamed and tolled correctly upon Update 7!

That is cool- an industrial distict on the mountain. I love industrial districts. Oh yeah. I have a question. Are you alowed to buy water to reclaim land from the sea? That would be awesome.

ObladiOblada - Very well, I'll be waiting.

Benedict - Thanks. Basically for the railroad, they cost 0.2 Points per tile + 0.2 Points per Freight Train and 0.2 Points per 50 Passengers per REAL month. You earn 0.2 Points per tile per CJ month. Basically if you want to invest in a railroad, you won't make much profit unless you purchase a real long stretch to overcome the Freight Train and Passenger Train deductions. If you desire, I will post a map of the rail lines on the next update in which you will beable to look and decide on which line or which portion of a line you're interested in. I will tell you how many tiles it encompasses and we'll go from there.

Greenbean418 - Well... Yes and No... As the Newark Island is a major seaport area, it could be dangerous for ships to travel around large land masses that were to suddenly appear from the sea. However, lets say you have a Commercial Office or a Hotel in mind that you wanted to biuld on it's own Island or Peninsula... you can raise land just for that hotel or development after purchasing the land rights for the development. It will cost an extra 0.3 points for development over water however.

Greenbean418 - That will be presented on the next Mini Update... I decided to make a mini update since I have alot of requests. Probably tonight or tomorrow morning it will be posted...

Benedict - Very well. I'll have a map with querries of the rail system and several route options available for you to choose between. The rail's, and road system will be purchased in sections and each section will represent a certain amount of tiles. This way it will be easy to view. So when you're ready to purchase, lets say section 1 = 20 tiles and section 2 = 30 tiles... thats 50 tiles of railroad in which you will tell me you want to purchase section 1 and section 2... Sound like a plan?

Benedict - Alright, now your information is coming up regarding the railroad.

Yoshiisland - The same region, Newark Island Region, the previous photo's were just from further up north into the Wachita Mountain Range. Also, I need to know what style toll you desire from the list above for the Eaton Bridge, Thanks!

2nerdy4u - You're entitled to it! Pictures of your new toll road are coming up aswell.

    ____________________________________

    Mini Update!

First lets have a look at whats changing in the Newark area...

    Region1.jpg

As we can see, Two bridges have been purchased and are in process of becoming tolled. Aswell as a new development to the North East just off of Highway 2, Lina Park by imaihop11. Our population has grown nearly 10,000 over the course of time from 127,000 residents to 146,000 residents and we're not expecting any growth delays any time soon. So with that said, lets get down to business.

    ______________________________________________________________

I've recieved quite a few requests and so to fullfill them I decided to put them upon an update of their own!

    First being Greenbean418's information request.

    Parcel 11, Grid C

    GridC.jpg

This Island can be best used for a resort hotel center. The addition of beachfront property adds an additional 0.2 points per tile.

    Cost per tiles -

    0.4 Light Density.

    0.5 Medium Density.

    0.7 Dense Density.

If you desire to use a BAT, I will deduct 0.1 point per tile.

To access mainland, you're going to have to perform it by Ferry or Bridge. You'll be responsible for both stations, Mainland and The Island. Also with the lack of a bus system, a passenger ferry wouldn't be recommended unless it served access directly into Downtown.

    Bridge Cost's

Street bridges cost 0.2 points per tile.

Road bridges cost 0.3 points per tile.

Avenue bridges cost 0.5 points per tile.

    Ferry Cost's

2 Points per tile + 2 Points per 50 Passengers every real month.

Once again you can use a Bat for the ferry so long as it's functional. I will deduct 1 Point per tile for Bats. Remember, you're going to need two stations.

    Roads

Streets = 0.1 Points per tile

Roads = 0.2 Points per tile

Avenues = 0.5 Points per tile.

Should you be interested, give me a grid crosshair and we'll get you some close ups.

    ________________________________________________________________________________________________

Now for Benedicts request upon purchasing the Railroad. But before we get too deep into it, lets have a look at what the railroad is encompassed of...

    Transportation.jpg

Our updated transportation map shows us the railroad (thick black lines) aswell as the local highways.

    Black = Railroad

    Green = Avenue

    Blue = Freeway (East/West connector)

    Red = Road

    White = Streets

Lets have another look, this time a map more specific on the rail lines.

    Railline.jpg

As we can tell there are 5 Major Rail Lines

The South Shore Line - Being the longest line, running parralell with the East/West Connector, Hwy 2 in portions and Hwy 4 through Eaton and Millidgeville. This line delivers mostly farming goods to businesses and supermarkets aswell as the seaport to be shipped out. There is a marginal supply of freight as there are several industries based off this rail line.

The Plains Extension Rail Line - Mainly west of the Metro area, provides access for the western farms that dwell in the middle of mainland access to rails to deliver to the seaport.

Wachita Central Rail Line - North and South Rail line used to deliver coal from the Wachita mountain ranges into Industrial Complexes below it, and also serves as a direct connection to the seaport to allow for shipping.

Atlantic Connector - An extension of the South Shore line that proceeds South East into the coast for easy access to rails by farms on the coast.

Oconee Express - Runs paralell with Highway 2 Northeast / Southwest to provide rail access to farms and industries along the Oconee river, terminating at the South Shore line just south of the East/West connector, also serving as a Seaport connection.

With that said, lets now have a look at the Rail grid, you will from this grid, pick a number or numbers, and I will give you shots of that area and from there we can proceed about purchasing. You CAN look at more than one number at a time and you CAN purchase more than one segment at a time.

    RaillineGrid.jpg

    _______________________________________________

Alright, Now that that's done... lets check out that toll progress...

Union 93 Propaganda Bridge - Highway 35 - The FIRST Toll Road.

    Toll3.jpg

The South Island Bridge was recently purchased and renamed into the Union 93 Propaganda Bridge by 2nerdy4u. The photo above show's the construction of the Southbound Toll Plaza. Cars will be forced to use one section of the highway during construction. The construction project will consist of...

    - Redirecting Traffic into Oncoming lanes where the pavement will be restriped - Complete!

    - Leveling the Terrain for Construction of Tolling Facility - In Progress!

    - Construction of Toll Facility - In Queue!

    - Depending on conditions - Constructing an overpass over the first traffic lamp, and PERHAPS even an interchange over the Highway 4 Intersection - Surveying!

Many residents in South Island and commuters from Newark alike are very disapointed that a road they used for free will now be tolled. Thousands of residents of the South Island area depend on this bridge on a daily basis to travel between work and home. There are no plans to construct a ferry system or an alternative bridge so residents and workers of South Island, will be forced to pay a toll on a daily basis.

    More photo's of construction -

    Toll1.jpg

Northern Portion of Highway 35, Downtown Newark, The Southbound portion of Highway 35 was destroyed and repositioned into the Northbound lanes for a temporairy bottleneck. The lanes will reopen upon completetion of the toll plaza.

    Toll2.jpg

Southern portion of Highway 35, South Island, The Northbound lanes are repositioned into the Southbound lanes and striped accordingling as another temporary bottle neck is formed. This section will open to full access again upon completion of the Toll Booth.

2nerdy4u - Is there any particular toll Bat you desire to use? or should I pick one? Electronic or Standard?

This is fantastic as usual. I'm always amazed at the extents to which you go to ensure a consistant level of realism. Chapeau! Hats off!

I view Lina Park, the inaugural development by Simtropolitans in Blue Hope, as a foothold in a regional bursting at the seams to explode into a thriving, wealthy, and powerful island. I aim to take all steps necessary to ensure that Lina Park provides a high quality of life for its residents, with a beautiful view of the Oconee that will merely augment services that can be provided by private and public institutions. I would like to found the Schop Institute, which I would be willing to help manage, as a non-profit organization to ensure the building of parks, preservation of green space, solid and varied educational opportunities, aid and adequete healthcare for the poor, and finally to work with industries in the region to maintain and improve the air quality in the region. To this end, being a philanthropist myself, I would like to donate the first SimMonth's income from Lina Park to the Schop Institute. I propose to allow simtropolis developers to donate to this cause, which money will be utilized to achieve the goals I have outlined.

    I love imagination. I can feel important 4.gif .

Okay, cool. By the way, I like the mini-updates...they put a lot of good info out there.

Finally, I would like to get a close view of parcel 17, the area just north-east of downtown, on the opposite side of the east-west connector. I am considering a small, greenspace-oriented commercial development, or maybe simply purchasing and improving some existing commercial properties. (This will be in several SimMonths, though, so no rush)

Thanks for those maps and the info - I'd like to buy as much of the South Shore line as possible, but if I don't have enough I would like to look at areas 7B through 16B, inlcuding the harbor connector. And that little spur off the SS line, between 14B and 15B.

I would also like to know where the stations are located - I can see several on your map (between 9-10; 4D; at the port; 2E) but I am not sure if they all show up well in transit view.

And I'm a bit confused about the cost per month (or really the income per month) - looks like I'd be charge more if the line is used more, but income would stay the same? Is that right??

    Thanks!

iamihop11 - I couldn't tell if you were acting or if you were serious, do you wish to start an environmentalist program directed towards the construction of parks and planting of tree's throughout Newark? Parcel 17 Photo's, N/E of the E/W connector will be displayed in the next update!

2nerdy4u - Your toll request will be fulfilled, we'll see progress in the next update!

MPTC - Thank you! You'll be added to the score system.

Benedict - I'll have photo's of your request in the next update!... Basically the system works like this...

For every CITY month for owning a rail system, you will be awarded 0.2 Points per Rail Tile you own.

A MINIMUM of 3 CITY months have to pass before I will deduct points from every REAL month

When you purchase a Rail line it will cost 0.2 Points per Rail Tile + 0.2 Points per Freight Train and 0.2 Points per 50 passengers...  This will be deducted every REAL month AS LONG AS a minimum of 3 CITY months have passed in that month...

    Get it now?

    ObladiOblada - Thank you!

Greenbean418 - Okay, Do me a favor, copy that photo of the island and outline the area you want to recouncil from the Sea...  It will cost 0.3 Points per tile. If you desire this island badly though I will allow you to go into the negative integers at the cost of completing the entire island. 2.gif

Could you show me the in-game grid so I can have an idea of where to place the hotels and stuff and so I can draw an outline? thanks.

    quote>

I understand that, but it looks i would be penalized if the rail line gets busier...

...example. If I buy 100 tiles then every city month I get 20 pts. After 3 city months I would have +60. Now it is time for charges. If there are 10 freight trains and 1000 passengers I would be charged 20 (for the rail) + 2 (freight) + 2 (passengers) which is 24, so a net of 60-24=36 every 3 city months.

Now if I improve the rail line in some way (adding stations in residential areas for example) and now get up to 5000 passengers I would pay 20 + 2 + 10=32, so my net would then be 60-32=28.

It just seems odd to me that I would make more money on the rail line by having no passengers and no freight on the tracks 2.gif
