Hello guys! Do you know any mod that encourages industry for using railroads over roads for freight transportation?

Reason = lower traffic and air pollution.

Thanks! 4.gif

There isnt a mod I'm aware of, maybe try putting less road connections, encourage your sims to take the train to their industry jobs.

There is - not amod but some useful lots

Search on the STEX for Truck blockers.  They will close direct road conections and may force your industrty to use rails

Heyyy! Thanks Nardo69! But closing direct road connections wouldn't affect other areas like commuters between the cities?

    Thanks! ^^

If you run spur lines from the freight rail into the actual industrial zones, the plants will load freight directly on the trains that have tracks that touch the plants.

hey N_O_Body! Thanks for the reply! 4.gif

    You mean I should make y X 2 or y x 3 industrial zones? Something like that:

    Tile 01 - Road

    Tile 02 - Industrial

    Tile 03 - Industrial

    Tile 04 - Industrial

    Tile 05 - Rail

    Tile 06 - Road

    Tile 07 - Industrial

    Tile 08 - Industrial

    Tile 09 - Industrial

    Tile 10 - Rail

    (...)

    Without using any freight station?

If you want all your people in your city to have a job in that industrial area, blantantly "force" them to, do not connect any roads from the residential to the industrial area, and just hook up a simple passenger rail right to the industrial zone and they will "have to" go there and work there.

Hey bbfan02! Actually I only want for the industries using trains instead of trucks to transport goods. Really don't care much about pop. using trains or not! 3.gif

As it was suggested, I could break all the road connections close by...but I would like to know if isn't there any other way... :/

Edit: When I said "Reason = lower traffic and air pollution." I was talking about the ones that trucks do! 2.gif

    Close, but no cigar.

Try putting industrial down so it looks like this:

That is, the spur lines run all over the industrial zone, and do not have to actually pass though as long as they connect to the main line, somewhere.

EDIT:  And add a freight station if you have any industral that doesn't have tracks next to it.  Don't forget the tracks (main line) should run by the station.  A good strong residential section nearby or in a close adjacent city is also need.  You can use rail here too.

Yup that's basically what I have, only mine is on a very grid pattern covering a whole small city area and even the branches exit off the map. All my workers come from the areas next to it, of course with the pollution I got I don't think anyone would live there even if I zoned for res. lol.

Did you notice I put in my fancy water plant to fuel the anti-matter power plant?  These two constitute a monstrous cheat that eliminate all pollution, even in a large tile.
