Well, this is just lowering my opion of this game so far. I have reached a new level of low opinion, this is really not looking promising...

I just saw the trailer and the interview.

The Trailer: -The woman's voice was a okay, but for a good trailer it needed the movie announcer guy, Don LaFontaine..."In a world where..." Yeah!! 9.gif   I also spotted a scene that slightly reminded me of Blade Runner, but it needed much higher skyscrapers!

The interview:  I know they say no zoning, but in a weird way it looks like housing/businesses/venues has replaced  residential/industry/ commercial.  I didn't see evidence of class conflict like City Life, but the 3-D graphics looked similar.   Ms. Bernstein's presentation kind of suggested that the game could be open ended like the Sim City and Sims games.

I agree. We need Don LaFontaine for this trailer.

The Power of the Sun...in the palm of my hand.

This game looks very bad from a city planning point of view. However the visual look of this game looks interesting.

I think this game will be really  fun.  For the first 3 days.  Then it'll be one of those "ok, now what?" moments.

It will come November 07. I hope they will improve the game, they have some mouth to go ! BTW any ideas if Maxis will develop SC5 when they have finished Spore?

It's you. Children of the Nile has only had one incarnation, and Ceasar IV is still too recent for a newer sequel to have come out.

HIghly unlikely, since Maxis didn't develop SC3000 or SC4, at least, not under Will Wright's direction.  Even though these games still had the Maxis logo on the box my guess is that EA games did most or all of the actual development.

If I remember right, Maxis worked on SC4 until about halfway through the Rush Hour expansion pack when they ran into developement problems. EA then brought in a different coding team, I believe from a racing game if I remember right, to finish Rush Hour. And from what I've read, Will Wright had a small part in developing SC3K, but left shortly after developement began and started work on The Sims.

I know how much everyone hates EA around here, but this is actually a good thing.  Their involvement with the development of SC4 proves they are capable of producing a good SimCity game.  If they did it once, they should be able to do it again.  4.gif

Not to nitpick, but EA forced Simcity 4 out the door when it was about 70% done. Rush Hour brought that up to about 80% done. The community has done about another 5-10%, but even so, there is 10-15% of the game left unfinished. EA abandoned the game except for sales in early 2004 and left the whole community alone to deal with bugs and incomplete features. While SC4 exists because of EA, but because of EA, SC4 was never completed. Any props EA gets are tainted by that fact.

Might as well give the game a whirl when it comes out instead of making assumptions over and over and over again. You can't hate something you never tried before right? Who knows it could be good, not great maybe but good enough.

im just not going to waste money on it, sure it's something new, but it's not something im willing to give up 40 dollars , and then become boring after i tried every society, which could take a week at most, 6 social energies, 7 days to mix them in everyway possible

Some features they didn't complete were online play, custom content tools, weather, and flowing water. One bug is the neighborhood traffic bug where sims can get trapped in a loop going while commuting between cities. Polish like diagonal bridges, bridges over land, roads under bridges are also missing. The menu system and interface is a mess and it's unpolished and primitive.

yeah see your point, i suspect weather woulda used lot system resources so not to bothered that got left out, real shame really EA really just don't care about simcity, when ya look at sims anything thats missing is soon in there.

online play would have been awesome! real shame that didn't get finished, i agree with the menu and lay out, its worse than sc3000 really, to many pop up messages as well
