Coastal Gardens

Here is my first real attempt at a CJ. I made my own config file to suit a coastal region. I didn't include any small or large cities as small ones are hard to link with neighbours and large ones start to fall apart when they grow.

RegionView-1.jpg

I've tried to start this region many times and end up obliviating every city I begin. I'm thinking about starting in the yellow square as there is room to move from there.

Nice coastline. Try out some mountains, and I look forward to your cities. Leonardo

After some planning and pratices I've come up with this. I've left room for rail and freeway. 10.gif

I love the god mode cheat (hold shift, ctrl, alt, click god) for planting full grown trees on lots with buildings already developed. 9.gif

I'm not sure what pollution levels are going to be like in the future. 41.gif

What am I going to do about pollution? Industrial areas are tricky.

    Two.jpg

Should I dezone all the industrial and put it more towards the side of the map?

I've gone in a totally different direction now. I've dezoned all the industry and put in a bit more commerce...

    Four.jpg

I didn't want to do this but if I wanted to eliminate pollution I would have to put industry in another city...

    Three.jpg

I'm not sure how this will work out in the long run. We'll have to wait and see 21.gif

    Nice and simple but;

i would like to suggest placing mountains on the other side of the region. One side will have a coastline and the other a mountain line.

The pics are really nice and i love your towns

    Good luck my friend!

If you want to reduce pollution, change your ordinances and also tax dity industry so high it will quit growing. If your education level's high enough, high tech industry will come in and it produces much less pollution.

From what I hear I think I should be putting in a mountain range. Sim_Air had it right by saying one side will have coast and the other mountains.

What sort of custom content should I be putting in? I don't like plopping buildings, any mayor can do that.

I asgree completely with Penguins post - What you want not want other people want - We can give ideas and suggestions but you will have to decide, maybe you don't think a mountain range would be right in this CJ, or maybe you do.

Before I start my many hours of gameplay today I thought I'd show some pictures of where I'm up to. The sprawling has definantly begun and the demand is going crazy.

    DemandOfFiveSixSeven.jpg

My plan for the future is to stick to the coast until I have developed about another three of four cities then go west. That's when I'll start to think about mountains.

Parklands now has a population of 37,959 residents and 10,904 commercial jobs.

    Five.jpg

    Six.jpg

    Seven.jpg

Iron Bark has 11,596 industrial jobs.

    Eight.jpg

    Nine.jpg

My next update will show where I have moved to next. Stick with this one 49.gif

The city that never stops growing

Todays addition to my CJ is going to include pictures of the city sprawling. I've now included an airport in another residential and commercial city and I've started another industrial city as well.

    Here's the region view:

    RegionView2-1.jpg

Here is Kalbarri, another industrial city south of Iron Bark.

    kalbarri.jpg

To the east of Kalbarri is Musgrave where I have placed an airport:

I must say that Parklands is doing extremely well. Here are some updated pics:

    These highrises are my favourite:

I hope you all enjoyed this update...

The city that never stops growing

Firstly I'd like to thank all the people who have been commenting on my pictures. Your suggestions and comments have kept this CJ going, even if it has only been a few days! 18.gif

The idea to put a mountain range in has been scraped. I've gone with putting in another river that would create a peninsular. Water is so much easier to work with then mountains.

    newregion.jpg

    newregion2.jpg

The two industrial towns to the west have almost trippled in size. Iron Bark & Kalbarri provide many many jobs for the residents in Parklands and Musgrave. 4.gif

    newironbark.jpg

    newkalbarri.jpg

The minister for transport in Parklands was suggesting to build an airport which would boost commerce but there wasn't any room to build such a large object. Careful ground leveling next to the coast has provided the space for an airport to be built. 48.gif

    newparklands.jpg

    newparklandscloseup.jpg

Many more highrises have gone up in all suburbs not only Parklands. Musgrave looking very modern with these tall buildings.

    newmusgrave.jpg

    newmusgravecloseup.jpg

I was pretty excited about building a bridge to the north. This suburb is Wyndarra. I wasn't expecting this amount of highrises to go up but I think it looks nice enough. 3.gif

    wyndarra.jpg

    wyndarracloseup.jpg

    newwyndarracloseup.jpg

So, thats it up till now. This region is definantly not stopping here. Next I'm going to have to place more industrial space north of Wyndarra. The demand is high there.

Iron Bark & Kalbarri need more low density residentual so I'm going to have to put this on the other side of the new river.

    Exciting times. Stay tuned 49.gif
