Ottawa, Ontario is the capital of Canada. Originally a small lumber town called Bytown who's only major landmark was the Rideau Canal, Ottawa is now a diverse urban area, home to 1.2 million people. It contains a number of  museums, two major universities and a college, an NHL franchise and is home to the world's longest skating rink in winter, the Rideau Canal.

well Edinburgh, Scotland is a city that grew up with the times so the old town is medieval there is the new town Georgian style and there is the Victorian part (half of it) surrounding that and boring dull cookie cutter suburbs and council estates on the edge

London all the way!

One of the major global cities, London is one of the 3 world's command centres for the economy, along with New York City and Tokyo. It is one of the international leaders in business, finance and culture. (Sorry, I love London.)9.gif

It has a population of around 7,684,900 within the Greater London city limits, and has a metropolitan population of 12 to 14 million people.

The Canary Wharf complex, with the tallest building in the UK, One Canada Square. The Millenium Dome can also be seen behind the buildings.

London also boasts the Wembley Stadium, the largest and most expensive stadium ever built. Completed this year, it replaced the old stadium.

Well, that's all the highlights I reckon, even though I live in Manchester.34.gif

Sorry if that sounds like nitpicking, but the world's command cities for the world economy are generally described as being 4: NYC, Tokyo, London, and also Paris. 2.gif

Anyway, as I've just mentionned Paris. I guess it's probably more polite to present it now. 4.gif

So there it is. Paris proper is the most densely populated city in the western world on par with the island of Manhattan. The earliest archeological signs of permanent habitation in the Paris area date from around 4200 BC. The Parisii, a celtic tribe of boatsmen and traders, made of this place their capital around 250 BC. Nowadays, monuments of Paris reflect all eras of its History, from the thermae and amphitheater of Roman times to the skyscrapers of the 21st century.

With a GDP over $600 billion, the Paris metropolitan area hosted 12,067,000 inhabitants at the beginning of 2007, and has been rated as one of the 4 top alpha world city along with Tokyo, London and New York City.
