Read the manual that came with the game. 2.gif

New York and Chicago are the meat and potatoes of my cities, and they are on most of the time. I also use Euro and Houston. My downtowns are a good mix of time periods, and most of my neighborhoods are old.

I always start with the Chicago and progress through the different time periods as the game progresses. I always end up with really old looking cities with sprinkles of newness in the core and the suburbs show their age better as you can sorta tell when they were built. I think it looks really cool.

I am using exclusively using New York for the moment because all of my cities are in the New York region.

Unless you have mod'ed the lots, I expect most lots are checked to apply to multiple, if not all, styles. If you wish to truly control buildings as a function of style, you probably will have to mod your lots to make them specific based on your judgement of what you want to apply.. to some degree the nominclature is arbitrary.

If I'm not in the Euro and Houston tilesets,  I build all styles at once and get ready with the Make Historic button.  Makes for good fun while bored...or drinking.

Well, normally I prefer a modern looking city so I'll usually go with Euro and Houston, but I'll use New York for extra building variation. Sometimes I'll go for an older look with Chicago and New York.

I always use Euro style, however I've mixed Euro and Houston styles in some cities.

I am a huge fan of Chicago Style, mainly cause i love the default apartments for it, and it is also good if you want to make a classic cityscape, i also think it would also work for new york, cause they have a lot of buildings modeled like that
