The little problem with highway sides...

Err… This is my first post here, I’m not sure is this sub-forum right place for my question…
Sorry if it isn’t…

I have small, but annoying problem with side of highways. Most of my highways pass through heavy populated city areas, and green grass area side of highways looks out of place. At least for me… So I want to change it… I have basic skills with the lot editor, ilive reader and “texture creator” tool in sc4 Tools… So, I quite easily changed the textures for avenues, roads and railways and now they looks like I want it. But with a highway i can’t do it for some reason… I was trying to make new textures with IID like 0x02001500, 0x04011300, 0x04011400 and others, which should replace default highway textures, as i thought… But it doesn’t happen…
I already lost any hope to solve this, when i found this file: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14632
The lot itself have nothing with my problem… but on the pictures we can clearly see that the area side of highway isn’t grass anymore! How the author did it? This is exactly what I need…
Any suggestions from experienced members?

He's using a terrain mod. They're available for download all over the STEX.

The grass beneath the highway isn't a texture of the highway but is the terrrain so if wanted to change the grass beneath the highway you would have to change the whole terrain texture or make some TE Lots that are placeable next to each other (it is possible) with the highway model and a different base texture.

Thanks a lot for all your answers. Looks like i was digging in a wrong direction before 4.gif

Well, terrain mod surely could do a trick, but i saw no mod even close to what i need... And making my own, even very simple terrain mod, is clearly beyond my humble skills. 15.gif

But the idea with overhanging props is just great. Looks like it's time to try to make props like buddybud did, but with other textures... Thank you again for your help.

I came back to idea of terrain mod after all... Overhanging props appeared easy to make, but suitable only for completely flat terrain. 15.gif On every little slope it starts looking terrible, and nothing can be done with it 15.gif

Also i discovered that i need also something to cover empty side area under the bridges which comes with NAM - rail over avenue and so on... Just can't stop using this NAM bridges, they are too nice 4.gif

So looks like all my region will be covered with sandstone... when I will find how to make terrain mod properly... For now it looks right only on certain zoom and fail on all others... But I hope I'll solve it sometimes...
