Where are my roads?!

Hello.

I'm in a great need of help right now.

Yesterday I returned home from a week-long visit in my nation's capital Stockholm, and one of the first things I did was that I installed the latest network addon-mod to SC4: Rush Hour. The one of June, 2007. Just after installing it, I didn't play any already existing city in my region. I just tested the news on an empty lot; I discovered this *****e today.

So. Earlier today, I sat down by my computer with the intentions of playing SimCity. I was at the top of the world.

I chose the city I wanted to play, and it started to load. Shortly after it had appeared on the screen, I discovered that several of the roads had disappeared. Mainly it were crossings, and the nearest road squares leading to them, that had vanished, but some bridges as well.

The roads re-appeared as I clicked them with the road-tool. Not one by one, and not all at once. I had to click every crossing that had disappeared for the roads to re-appear. The bridges that were gone, I had to reconstruct.

It was not of my interest to do this on all of the crossings that were gone, so I restarted the game; hoping that the roads would come back. But no, they didn't.

And this seems to have happened to all of the cities in my region. All crossings (or at least the very most of them) have disappeared, and a handfull of bridges.

My region has got more than 1,1 million inhabitants, my largest city is at 300 000+; there are a lot of crossings to click, and many bridges to reconstruct.

It's not just that the roads are invisible; they are gone until I've clicked them. Green icons appear over houses close to the missing roads.

So my question is:

Is there anyone here who is familiar with this "bug", and is familiar with whether or how it's possible to fix it?

The bug seems to have occured after installing the new network addon, alternatively uninstalling the old one.

Did you have the NAM installed before? If so, did you have the Road Turning Lanes installed as well? If you did, then you forgot to install it with the June NAM. If you didn't have it, then you accidentally installed it this time.

This version of the NAM encompasses many things that were individual downloads previously.  The pre-instructiions included a list of plug ins to be removed if they were present.  The best way to do this is with the Cleanitol program available from SC4Devotion's LEX.  If you did not perform this check and removal, this could be part of your problem.

If this is the case, I suggest you uninstall the June '07 NAM, then run the Cleanitol list, or manually check for the files to remove.

Then reinstall the NAM taking extreme care to open all choices and verify that you have what you need.

tyrannosaurusrex:

If you had any of the turning lane options installed with the original NAM, you must choose those options again.

It definitely sounds like when you installed NAM, you didn't install the road turning lanes option.
