Is this demand normal?

Hey,

I just started playing again the other day... and I noticed now with the city I'm currently working on, when I add some R$ sims the demand for C$$$ and O$$$ goes up, even though only R$ sims have moved in... one or two R$$ houses might pop up with them but R$$ demand is pretty low and those couple houses shouldn't change the demand as significantly as it's changing...

I only have a handful of R$$$ houses right now, low density, and no new ones have been added yet C$$$ and O$$$ keep going up. There aren't R$$$ in neighboring cities either.

I already have many more high wealth shops and offices than low and medium wealth ones combined... I'm starting to run out of space to put them all but they keep asking for more.

Is this supposed to happen? It seems really strange.

Well, we would sure like a screen shot, including your demand graph.  Meanwhile, you can up the taxes on these guys you want to cool.  Try a 0.5% hike for openers.

If it is the "advisors" asking for more, be aware, they have their own agendas. Each one trying to outdo the other. [tongue in cheek]

It must have been a weird glitch, it stopped doing it after I saved and restarted the game again later... or I got past whatever condition was causing it.

Since I can't repeat it I can't screenshot it, but here is what it looks like now. The C$$$ and O$$$ have gone down since I zoned for them but the other demands are about the same, ID and IM went up some also from the R zoning. Anyways I guess there's no problem now, it's seemed to have fixed itself.

Sometimes the game needs time and patience to adjust to new settings. New zones and development might not enter in to calculations right away. Always give your city a couple months to get everything up to speed. You'll notice this when a new building arrives on a lot. If you do a path query on it, nobody will be going to or from that location. Fast forward a couple days/weeks/months, and it will appear. 4.gif

Yeah, normally I would think it was something like that, but I had let the game run for many years before changing anything, so it should have leveled out already... only thing I can think of is high land value and desirability caused more commercial $$$ to want to move in... I've had similar things happen even when I had no R$$$ anywhere, I may be making my cities a little too nice too fast.

I'm having a similar problem, so here are my demand graphs. I constantly zone medium and high density commercial, but nothing that's actually heavily in demand builds. I keep getting CS$$, with the occasional CO$$. My city's population is 18,000 and the area I've zoned is central (downtown) with high education (120), and high desirability. Why won't they build what's in demand?

K, 23,000 people now, and Co$$$ demand is up past 6000, and yet I have... 1 Co$$$ building in my entire city. Help?

Darobat: First off, watch your double posts - just edit the message next time (that's just friendly advice)

About your city... Just because the demand is there, it doesn't mean Sims will build where you've zoned. SC4 takes several aspects into account when sims develop. One, desirability: make sure you zoned somewhere CO

I would say that roads would be your main problem. Your residents will have to get to work, but if you build a store in the boonies, nobody will visit it. A shot of some of the zones where you're having development problems would be helpful.
