What is your opinon of a grid this way, i was planning to use extensive bussing to get around. The connecting squares are empty.

The Diagonal lanes is just help lines for building and the city for keeping the budget at plus while building. The grey roads is just to mark in the map in smaller squares i have yet to figure out how i will do,

I am usually build small squares as i like to micro my city, but now i'd like to try a big one.

Any input would be helpful 4.gif

I hope i put this thred in the correct forum.

Here is one of my small square grids that works verry well for me, but probably not as good on a large square.

The biggest size zone you can zone in SimCity 4 is a 4x4 square, meaning that the biggest size block you can make without any gaps is 16x16. Your grids appear bigger than this. You can have any size block, but 16x16 is the biggest "efficient" block that you can make, so I'd suggest that you keep the streets and roads.

16 by 16 would have major gaps if the buildings are 4 by 4 and would look something like this, correct?:

The grid for small squares should theoretically hold up, as if you would imagine 12 medium wealth skyscrapers per block and suppose 2,500 residents lived in each building. If 16 blocks were used only for residential in a small tile city, then you could possibly put 480,000 people in a small tile, if the entire tile would be used as residential only.

This couldn't possibly be the case, as considering the roads, the transit network would be a traffic nightmare.11.gif The roads would eventually have to be upgraded to avenues, which would destroy some buildings.

As for a real game application? We never know!

Well the diagonal grid wont work. The game treats a diagonal like a road with a 90 degree bend

ASCII art should illustrate. Both drawings are treated as the same thing. though road 2 in real life would be a shorter distance

    Road 1 ________________________ Road 2
