There are tons of major connections in the world, especially the U.S.

In my midwest region there is the Midwest triangle. The corners are Indianapolis, Cincinatti, and Louisville. The borders of the triangle are Interstate 65, Interstate 74, and Intersate 71. I live on the stretch of Interstate 65 in Columbus, Indiana. When they first built interstate 65, Columbus grew in all residential, commercial, and industrial. When they built 65, it helped create new factories like the Toyota plant on the southwest side of town, plus a whole bunch of new high tech industrial parks. More buisness got involved with the easy access of transportaiton.

There are many other connections like this that helped other towns sprawl.

except that New St is a hole in the ground.....god I wish they would build the grand central, even the mediocre idea of a revamp is far from adequate! I mean how about thinking to the future? High Speed 2??? better to link into a grand station instead of a separte one! My knowledge coming from the fact that I used to use it everyday, the fares are more expensive there because there is no dam room.

In Toronto, you have Union Station, a transportation hub for the national rail line (VIA), the heavy rail commuter line (GO Train), the rapid transit bus terminal (GO Bus), and the TTC subway.

We also have Hwy 401 which is the spine of Southern Ontario. Lots of large towns along the highway such as Windsor, Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge, Toronto, and out to Kingston. Hwy 407 is a toll highway that have spurred sprawly growth in Markham.

The Via Rail Station in London, Ontario, Canada.  I know it isn't much, but its all we have for a region of 500,000 people.  The line links Detroit with Toronto.

Click the images for full resolution:

Most people take Highway 401 between Detroit and Toronto, its the World's busiest highway.

As you can see, road transportation is king in southern Ontario when compared to mass transit.3.gif

Well, in Sacramento there's Regional Transit, which handles all buses and light rail. It's a huge network man! Light rail trains run out to Folsom and Meadowview! It's a haul.

Then again, our freeways are probably some of the most compex ones on the West Coast. There's two I-80s: one eastbound and the other westbound. However, I-5 is probably the biggest connector for the whole region!

Regarding the massive bus system, it's confusing. The route numbers are all different and different buses go to different places, but it's always different places than the day before. Basically, for a huge area of the metro area, these buses go anywhere at any time!

We do have the best ads on our buses though!

^ I should hope the bus numbers are all different... it'd be even more confusing if they were all the number 1. 2.gif

In Philadelphia they have 30th Street Station. The only line that doesnt meet up there is the Broad Street line. But there they have M-F-Line , R1,R2,R3,R5,R6,R7,R8, 10 ,11 ,13, 34 , 36 , and a host of bus lines. 69th Street is the same way. They have the terminal for M-F-Line , Norristown High Speed Line or Route 100. Red Arrow Trolleys 101 and 102. They have alot of buses to name a few there are routes. 65 , 113 , 108 , 114 , and a few others.
