night lights update issue

Hey, 

I wasn't gonna ask this, but I just cannot seem to get it to work, so ok, here's my Q:

Its been asked and answered many times I know, but the "night lights for BAT buildings" update does not work AT ALL. Are there any new links, or is there some other way to fix it? I've got some many downloads I'd love to see lit up...  Again, the patches/updates/fixes do not work. It always says the file is "old" or "corrupted". 

Any help would be awesome and a real lifesaver!

Exactly! I've downloaded it twice with no success. I have all the other updates, so I don't understand why it shouldn't work. I've read countless other boards bemoaning this very thing, with no successful solution. There's gotta be some easy explanation, but right now its driving me crazy.

I don't know if this helps... but the updating problem i had was that my Sim City 4 was from another country.. are you sure that yours are from US.

As far as I can tell. I'm starting to wonder if having GMAX and BAT installed would make a difference. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

In other words, shouldn't the "night lights" update work even if I don't download BAT/GMAX?

The only question I can answer for sure is, you don't need gMax, SC4 BAT, the Lot Editor, or the Plugin Manager installed. The lights may not work on Mac's, I don't know, and I don't know if they work on games not for region 1.

i had to download the build640 simcity ep1 1update but there is only build638????

If you install update build 638, the SimCity exe will show the version as 640, I think it is 1.1.640.1, but I am not real sure of the exact numbering.

SC4+RH+Update1 -> Build x.638.y.z  I don't know what x, y, and z are.

Build x.638.y.z + Nightlight fix -> Build x.640.y.z

The order matters.

OK, THE LIGHTS DO WORK, BUT YOU HAVE TO INSTALL GMAX AND BAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Google "night lighting for BATs" and follow the steps IN ORDER. The Nightlighing patch should be installed LAST. So install the 1.1.638/40 update, install GMAX, Install BAT, and THEN INSTALL the nightlighting update (off the official Sim City site--"cool stuff/BAT/its the second from bottom SC4BATupdate.exe" Pasted below is the last three steps from HORDIJK's excellent page on how to add nightlights. And look at step three carefully. That is the answer. It says, to install the BAT update (for lights), BAT is required. Again, that is the answer! And when you do install the lights update, save to your desktop before running. Click on it, and then "run" it. If it works right, you'll see a menu pop up, and as it downloads, the boxes will go from white to red. And it will tell you it downloaded successfully.

3. Installing Gmax

Now to install the BAT update, the Building architect tool (BAT) required. and that

requires Gmax.

After Gmax is installed, you will need the BAT. It is also on the simcity4 site and can be downloaded here:

5. BAT Update

Now it's time for the BAT update which is located also at the simcity4 site:

Once all of these steps are completed start up your game. Open up a city that has downloaded BATs in it (which have night lightning in them).

Shanethemain: I believe you are confused.

I will state again, unequivocally, that you do not need gMax, SC4 BAT, or the Lot Editor, installed for the nightlights to work.

You need the Rush Hour/Deluxe versions of the game, with the SKU1 update patch installed, and the SC4update4BAT.exe installed.

This applies to PC computers with Vista, or Windows XP operating systems.

If after that, they are not working for you, look at other things that might be causing the nightlights not to function

Hi, Sla0812 - MY mind - You can't work with night lights without legal version of SC4 ...

You can have SKU1 Update Patch and SC4Update4BAT.exe files on Your Comp from many sites, but You can't have night lights with illegal copy (such as Russian Wolf 7 or some Russian another) !!!

Today I don't know about any legal Russian version of SC4 - I have only Europa ...

Try work with any legal copy SC4 and no problems ....

or look some Russian sites about SC4, but Your final work = ZERO !!!
