I've been trying

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -w -r1440x900 -intro43.gifff quote>

but all I can get are the normal reolutions of 1280x1024 | 1024x768, etc. I can't play at 1280x1024 because I have a widescreen that only does 1680x1050. Anyway to get the res I specified in my params? Thanks!

Have you ever gotten it to work on previous monitors? I've had the game since it came out, and never once got window mode to work.

that explains it, I thought so. at least my 24" at work supports 1280x1024 4.gif At home I'll just switch to full screen.

@Pixelrage, sometimes I have to load the game without -w and then change the resolution to what I want, then add the -w again. PITA, but it works every time.

One solution I've found that works in full screen is this:

    -CustomResolution:enabled -rwidthxheight

I use this to go full-screen on my 1440x900 widescreen monitor.  Perhaps this would work windowed as well.

why would you want it to run in windowed mode? the only advantage of it is thatis the only way you can get it to run in true color. Otherwise it is MUCH slower then in full screen mode.

I think most of the reason are obvious. Being able to check the stex, forums, plex, bsc exchange. Maybe watch a movie. Check email. No need to alt tab and I can keep an eye out for fires, etc. But also so I can play at work. there are some apps like hide any window, that will do just that, hide any window. so I can minimize and magically it goes away. and I blame napster on the high fan speed from my laptop 4.gif I used to do it with WoW at work. except I kept dying all the time. simcity is a little more liberal in regards to that.

and it flies in windowed mode, I think even faster because of the lower resolution. I've got a core2 duo and a 7900gs tho.
