...also note, a true SC game will also have the moniker: Maxis - the real creator of Sim City, even if they are owned by EA, that would be like calling all Craftsman tools were made in K-Mart instead of Sears.

You guys are twisting EA's words and trying to convince yourself into this delusion that SCS isn't SC5. This is the first stage: Denial.

I thought we all surpassed denial and moved directly to anger.  I'm currently at stage 4... depression.  Acceptance is coming sometime in August.

After Societies, though, I hope there's a 5 at the end of the next SC title.

ok so a few days ago IGN got their first look at this game and I noticed there was an actual video of it with the preview @ E3. After watching it for the first two minutes my jaw dropped and shortly after I got a migrane only to realize that I will be playing the grid system of sc4 for a few more years. I just hope this is a cheap spinoff to generate sales until the TRUE sc5 comes out. We are better off purchasing City Life instead of this crap because at least you can produce some kind of angled roads with CL. Since Maxis is working on spore till 08 this makes complete sense that they'd make a game like this to tide consumers over until Maxis & Co can work full time on SC5.

Agreed.. although it would be nice to see a real SC5 one day, I doubt it will happen for a long time (several more years) if ever. Let's hope City Life 2 fills the void.quote>

Or mayby we should wait for Building World

That looks cool. Too bad it's just a construction game--not a city-building simulator.

I think SC:S is a "spinoff" of SimCity...similar to what is happening with The Sims 2 Life Stories...it has relation to The Sims but is played in a totally different way. That's what SC:S is. And I thought a while back didn't EA say SC5 would be out in late 2008?

Personally, I think a lot is going to depend on how well SCS sells. If it tanks, it's just a spin-off. If it matches (or exceeds) SC4's sales, this will be the new direction of the game.

Capitalism ftw.

milking the cash cow, I'd personally wait as longas it takes for a quality sim game to be completed. when it finally does come out, the thing will be amazing.. truly aMZing..

Well, I think Maxis started to do SimCity 5, then EA robbed it from them, gave it to Tilted Mill and said "OK! Rip the code out of this, make it attractive to the lower-aged Sims players, and make it so by Christmas 2007. 10-4!"

The pessimist side of me thinks that railroads and power lines will be in the SCS expansion.

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

Well obviously it was robbed from Maxis against their will. The fact that Tilted Mill makes city builders, and the fact that Maxis is up to their ears in the development of Spore couldn't possibly have any relevance. 20.gif
