When residential demand is filled (->more people moving into your city), it will raise commercial demand.

The more R$$ ,and moreso R$$$ you have in your region the more Co$$$ demand you will have , im not sure on ratio but i wouldnt be suprised if one sim working in HT creates a job or demand for one unit of Co$$$ demand , there is a ratio but i never nailed it exactly .

Actually, this is the very issue I was asking about in an earlier thread yesterday.  My regions are nothing BUT R$$$ and my demand for that is busting through the roof.  I wouldn't be able to lower my res demand if I tried.  That said, commercial has fallen to the lowest it could possibly be, and no matter how many parks or plazas or subways or ANYTHING I use to change it up, my commercial never grows.  In turn, my residential demand will not develop even though it's at full.  When it does, the houses quickly abandon because there are no jobs.  Since my industry has no problem developing, I have to use THAT for jobs... and it's proving really annoying in what I want to be an industry-free suburb.  I've never experienced this.  I think I plopped a landmark that really impacted all the connecting cities.
