The beaches in the game don't look right after saving.

I used these beaches downloaded from the stex because they are larger but the same problem is existant with the normal beaches.  Any Ideas?

That's a real problem. I recommend making the shore more level-ish. If that doesn't work, get a darker water mod, like me! TopCliff

if you get the edmonton water textures, it will add a murkiness to hide the edges. even better go to gizmo's site (gizmo.lunarpages.com) or SC4D. They have some water flora to hide edges. Also Goldiva's mayor mode kit has reefs to hide edges. Use them all in conjuction to hide the edges. Also as topcliff stated, try to level the shore smoother.

Definitely raise your ground level up. Even here on earth sandy beaches do not exist where the shore line drops off dramaticly like in your picture. I use just the maxis in game water but it still looks better if the shore extends out a little past the plopped beach.

Follow up: this time I fixed the sea levels and have before and after pictures

    before2.jpg

The beaches in this picture look fine but after I save...

    I get this mess!

In conclusion, I don't think the sea level has anything to do with this problem.

You've discovered the infamous SC4 Beach Bug.

There really is nothing that can solve this. But I do remember reading somewhere that going into underground view and then switching to overground view solves the problem temporarily.

Try adding some of Goldiva's beach thingies.  Boats on the Beach, trees on the beach, reefs, etc.

This is recommended. Someone else said to go to the Zone Data view and then turn it off...I haven't tried that yet since I forget...(I hardly use beaches)
