it's the same as real life, going to school for 1 day doesn't make your sims einstein yet. it takes time for the overal health and education to rise 2.gif. good luck with it 4.gif

It because when people first move in, they have an EQ of roughly 80 or lower. They have to live in the city for a time to increase their EQ.

Right, if your city is growing, hopefully it is, you'll cont to get the intellectually challenged moving in lowering your overall intelligence. If you either stop expanding and wait or wait until your pop get larger and the influx of new people doesn't effect your int numbers as much your intelligence will rise.

People moving out and back into the city will also cause int to lower, they leave smart and come back just as stupid as they where the first time.

no, the city is not growing, this is occuring at the start of the game, nobody lives here, i have all the amenities that are needed, but nobody wants to move in, not one single person. that's what is confusing me.

Well, if it's occurring in the start of the game, then maybe the city doesn't need those amenities - yet. Try to wait a few game years.

Do you have jobs (aka C and I) for the sims*? Specifically, jobs within the commute distance that sims are willing to travel?

*These don't have to be developed, as C&I and R development tends to go hand in hand.

Are your people poor? Because if they are they usually start out stupid and get smarter and the wealthier they are the generally smarter they are. A little factor I noticed was if the surrounding cities are smart then immigrants to a new city will have a bit more intelligence.

what im tryin to say is, is that this is the very beginning of the game, nobody has even moved in yet, there is zero population and the health and education meters are at rock bottom and they do not climb at all, even after 5 years

I have noticed something about this thread on "Zero" Pop.... make sure every connection has been made, including to regions that don't have cities named yet... and make sure that the area you are zoning have at least water and power. If you are trying to save money.. here's an idea... since water pipes feed 6 squares on either side of them... space them out in a 12x12 grid... one long line at the edge of your city, and lines going straight out from that pipe to opposite edge of your city... your spending for water pipes will be very minimal, in the long run.

hit the fast forward to like 2030, build like a library and a museum, then your sims will be educated.

Is it possible that the cheats you used interfered with the game? (If you used a mod or some sort of enhanced orinance)

it takes a minimum of 12 game years for your sims to become educated. the more levels you have, the longer it takes, but the higher their EQ is.

you should only need a small water pump for your city...try using that instead of the cheat and try using just the coal power plant.

No Maxis buildings... does that include residential as well?

Because if so, and you have no custom R downloads (or perhaps just a few), then there you have it.

Double check your mods folder for the R$, R$$, and R$$$ block mods. You might have downloaded them as well.

Aaaaaaand if that's not the case... well.. er... I dunno.
