I just got the game today. I'm playing it on my Intel MacBook pro. Surprisingly enough, despite the mixed reactions to its performance from here and elsewhere, it runs well on my computer. Thank god. So, anyway, I have some questions... 1.) how do I change the size of my region, and the number of certain sized rectangles within it, etc...? 2.) how do I add on modds? 3.) how do I add on lots from the STEX? Can they all be downloaded and applied perfectly fine, despite the difference between Mac and PC? 4.) I tried to register over at SC4.com, but I could not find a serial number on my SC4 deluxe edition box, the manual, or on the case. I checked the DVD too- nuttin'. I am aiming for a very customized city, you can see. Once I've done enough work on it, I'll probably start a CJ. Thanks for your help!

    1. To change the size and the city layout of your region you need to create a new config.bmp file Read this. It is the same for mac's, although you might need to use diffrent applications.

2+3. This is the same for modds and lots form the STEX. Download them. Then go into your plugins folder located along this path Documents=>SimCity 4=>Plugins. Then you put the files that you downloaded into your plugins folder. I suggest making a folder inside your plugins folder for each of your downloads to keep order inside your plugins folder and so you can find diffrent files easily.(trust me it makes it alot easier to find them if you have them in folders, and they will still work propperly in SimCity 4). Get the NAM from the Modds section. It will realy change your game.

4.This is probibly the only bad thing about getting SimCity 4 on a mac. EA's website doesn't allow the mac games to register onto their website. This is because our games are made by Aspyr and not EA, so we can't register our coppies at EA's website. Although this is not a big problem though because EA's applications would not work on mac's anyway. Although if you need some files that only EA's site has then go to here this site will give you files that you might need for some downloads to work.

    So, I hope I helped.

    And welcome to Simtropolis!

Thank you very much for your help! I already got the NAM thing and I figured out the plug-in thing... but I didn't know about the region trick. I've noticed that some downloades are .exe, not .dat. Are these mac compatible? I'm sorry in advance if it's a newbish question...

Yes, you can use .exe files but their is a proccess to it. First you need to download an application called FileJuicer. Start that up and drag the .exe file into it. This does not work 100% of the time though. It can only work when the .exe file is being used instead of a .zip file. So file juicer turns it into a .zip, and I think it might zip it for you. Sometimes it wont work when it is inside a .zip file because it is being used as an installer (or something like that) instead of it being a .zip itself. So download filejucier because it realy help.

And no it was not a newbish question.
