On March 13, 2007, at 3AM, I left with my mother to Ft. Lauderdale Airport to get ready for the best field trip EVER! NYC and Washington D.C! Although D.C was great, Nothing could beat NYC, An amazing city and I get inspiration for my Simcities from this great metropolitan jungle. Here are some of my personal pictures of the trip, I hope you enjoy them! Click on the image to see the large full size!

DAY 1

We left Newark Airport, a few minutes from our hotel in New Jersey. We entered the freeway , I looked to my left, and I saw the city...

I quickly got an impression that I was not going to forget this trip.

After getting off the Tunnel, We were inside the island of Manhattan, In the middle of it all in Midtown for our appointment to visit the Wax Musuem.

After 2 hours of taking pictures with all kinds of celebrities, We entered the bus and passed through busy morning rush hour streets.

The bus made a turn and revealed 5th Avenue.

439217057_15cbc46df9_b.jpg

We pulled up against a huge complex of large, 20's era style building, Rockefeller Center...

439217438_59df921a09_b.jpg

We peeked inside the window and noticed they were shooting The Today Show, We waved hello to the cameras.

After walking around a bit, We made once again made our way into 5th Avenue to go shopping and sightseeing.

I looked up and saw this huge building, The GE Building, We were about to go to the top, The Top of the Rock.

The elevator wooshed! It was clear glass and there was a huge light show of colors and a small movie of the history of the Building.

In less than 50 seconds, We were at the top of the Rock looking over snowy New York City. It was not the clearest day, but the weather didn't make it any less amazing.

After a few bitter cold minutes, I decided to stop playing with my camera and head inside, There's only so much snow a Floridian can handle, Especially when it's their first time. Luckily, You could see the city just as good but in the warm.

439213563_6f41249553_b.jpg

We went down to city level and entered our bus and went on a quick tour of Midtown and Central Park. We passed Times Square...

Day 1 was all about the hip, new and trendy Midtown and Central Park area. For day 2, we went to downtown Manhattan and toured the city's most historic buildings and streets, Something that cannot be missed.

    DAY 2

We got wakeup calls at around 7am and when I looked out my hotel window, I was pleased that it snowed even more overnight.

    439220317_493fa3c278_b.jpg

We woke up and had breakfast and left the hotel and headed towards the city once again.

    439226992_12c4e03896_b.jpg

We left the tunnel and when we got into Manhattan, It had snowed alot more than in our hotel in New Jersey. We were driven from Midtown all the way down to Ground Zero and Battery Park, Here are some shots of what I saw along the way..

    440078548_48d0dcc04e_b.jpg

    439232084_118924dabe_b.jpg

    439229202_d00db74bb1_b.jpg

We then arrived at the site where so much terror occurred, Ground Zero. It is now a large construction site.

Across the street is the famous Trinity Church.

The bus later made it's way to Battery Park...

    439218316_2233d63319_b.jpg

When we arrived at Battery Park, Everyone went to the guys selling Gucci Purses, Chanel Sunglasses and Burberry scarfs for less than 20 dollars! My teacher said it was stolen but nobody really cared 16.gif We were only there for about 10 minutes, yet we each dropped 50-100 dollars, however, We still had Canal Street to buy out 9.gif

It wasn't as nice as I pictured it to be, but hey, Everything there's cheap!

    465556604_7f8d027f2e_b.jpg

We then headed to South Street Seaport for lunch, passing through some of New York's oldest and most historic skyscrapers.

After all seeing all those beautiful buildings, there wasn't anything else I wanted, except for lunch...

South Street Seaport was the answer! I had 3 buckets of Haagen Daaz Ice Cream and Pizza 36.gif

There's some really awesome pictures there, i went to New York last March and wish I had took even more photos than I had.

It's the only city in the world that I actually miss!! I was only there for a week and there's still things today that I wish I had gone to see etc, definitely want to go back in the future!

Glad you liked it here but there's a key flaw in your descriptions I must point out- if you flew into JFK, you would not be getting on the New Jersey Turnpike. That would be if you flew into Newark.

Since the pictures at the end clearly depict you entering the Queens-Midtown tunnel and then being on the Long Island Expressway, you most definitely flew out of JFK.... but since that first picture shows the Empire State building to the right of the bulk of midtown, it must have been taken from the New Jersey side.

...there's no point where the Jersey Turnpike ventures that close to the waterfront, though. That picture seems to be taken from the approach road to the Lincoln Tunnel, as it's heading down the infamous "helix" towards the toll plaza and tunnel portal.

This means you flew into Newark and out of JFK.

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.
If you can read this, you deserve a cookie.

I'm sorry Duke, but I have almost no idea what you just said. We probably did fly into Newark Airport instead of JFK, I probably got those two confused. I know for a fact that we left through JFK though, and when I looked outside the plane's window, The airport's location was where JFK is on Google Earth, That and there were many signs saying 'Welcome to JFK!'

I live there in the vast sub-suburbs (not quit suburban) 3 houres drive even if traffic is moving 75+ mph from New Hyde Park on L.I.

    (Long Island)

I have only benn to downtown 6 times in my hwole life.

I means not quite suburban as in there are clusters of tall buildings mixed in wit hthe densly packed houses.

I know my english sucks because it was not my first language. lol
