Venice-like City Project

I am now starting my next project, the Venice project. This city will be available for download in other file-hosting site to reduce the load in Simtropolis.

This will be worth as commercial districts will have canals and other luxuries. I am not good in developing such cities and hope this will be my first step. I am also hoping that UDI boats will be capable of traveling in these canals.

This will be a medium city. I will also be using Air-Purification plant because I found it nasty to have a nice canal system but ugly air quality.

Highways will also be used.

I can't find the BSC Essentials and BSC Textures Mega Pack. Until SimGoober fixes these, I can't start the project right away. The textures are missing in action in the STEX and in SC4Devotion. If you can help me by giving me the link here or sending it to my email: barrera_marquez2003@yahoo.com. Help me please if possible. Thanks!

Both BSC Essentials and BSC Textures Vol01 and Vol02 are available at the LEX. Search for Dependencies and Dependencies - Props in the search bar in the left-hand side of the LEX screen.

I also suggest that you register at SC4Devotion and not just at the LEX. Then you can post any problems or queries in the appropriate forum there.

Fake canals are boring. Do them for real!

UDI Doesn't work in lot-based canals...

I'll have these canal-side walls released soon, and since they are ALL 1x1 lots, there's no problems going around strange diagonal or curved corners 2.gif...I cannot tell you how tired I got of trying to redesign my coast to work with the sea walls I had...

I'm currently working on a lock that will work with the lake-water mod, so canals can be built over passes....not sure exactly how viable this is.

And the best thing about canals with real sc4 water is that they look like they could actually be navigated throughout their length.

Ahh, but they are too tiresome to make...., too cumbersome. If you do it in SC4 terraformer though... Which I presume you did.

Actually no... I did that by editing the raw image.....it's just lines drawn in. (2-8 pixels in width)

Thanks guys, I think I will follow your recommendations, I will do them for real. I am on a dial-up connection and downloading these "bloated" dependencies are a pain in my pocket.

david1314: What a nice set of buildings you got there! I think they could help me in my construction. But to prevent "bloat," I'll think I will set them on next time. Even landmarks are very nice! Good work! Don't worry, if the walls are released, I will download them as soon as possible.

Anyway, is it true that Simgoober has left the STEX to SC4Devotion? I am wondering why they constructed that site when they could upload their creations here instead?

Awesome! I just came back from Italy about 1 1/2 weeks ago. Venice was the first city we went to. I really, really loved it (my favorite city in Italy). Good luck, I could post picutures here if you want.

Isn't venice entirely on the water though? From the photos I've seen the buildings just seems like that.

Yea, I didn't see any roads there, just pedestrian roads/sidewalks. But I know there's a road going from the airport on the mainland to Venice.
