Mac Users: No Love from EA

I finally got SimCity 4 last week and I've already spent loads of time playing it. One thing I love about SimCity is the content they offer over at the games official website, SimCity.com. Not only do we have to pay twice as much for the game, but we Mac users are not offered the same access to SimCity.com like our fellow PC users. Since the Mac version doesn't come with a serial number, you can't register to access their site. Why is that? I mean...EA still owns the rights to the Mac version of SimCity 4...The game still has an EA splash screen and the logo all over the packaging, and yet we get the cold shoulder. All they have to say is this:

The official SimCity 4 website, http://simcity.ea.com/, only supports the registration of PC-CD versions of the product. SimCity 4 for the MAC was licensed and produced by Aspyr Media, Inc.; all questions regarding registration and downloading should be posed to Aspyr. For support information on the MAC version of SimCity 4 including available downloads, click on the Aspyr link provided: http://www.aspyr.com/games.php/mac/sc4/support/quote>
Why do you even need to register to use SimCity.com anyway? I mean, what good will any of it do if you don't have the game? It must be EA's own way to try and combat privacy, much like the "Genuine Advantage" hoopla instilled by our friends in Redmond. Yet again another prime example of corporate greed over customer satisfaction....

Yes, EA is computerist. Simcity.com may not have Mac files, but here at ST bwatterud has some Mac Packs and SimGoober's files work with File Juicer. So there is a way to get custom content, just not off Simcity.com.

Hey that's pretty sweet what you're doing with iDisk zelgadis, many thanks! It's still a shame that we're unable to access the Terrain Generator over at SimCity.com. Ah, we're probably not missing much of anything. It's probably only able to generate maps from terrain from like Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Washington D.C.
