Neat. This is why I like this one. Which is interesting is that the original Maxis houses blend in the city nicely.

I got only one problem, which is comman among the CJers: bad use of airport stuff. It looks bad, when the different base textures cut into each other, and the textures under the planes have brothers and sisters... etc-etc. I know it is hard, I have one airport in my CJ and it was hard to do.

I hope I wasn't rude.

Good ol' Liberty Islands! Someday, I'll repost my old CJ.

Bokrif: No, not rude at all I welcome all comments, I totally agree about the airport. It took about 5 hours to build the airport which is quite big really and I was very annoyed about taxiways, aprons, parking etc because I couldnt work out how it works. I didnt know where to put runway markers and stuff either. Ive only been on a plane once and that was from a small airport so if someone could point me in the direction of how to do it properly Id be happy to put it right.

Well, since Im here this is a sneak preview of Update 11, Hember.

    1-14.jpg

I fancied doing something a little different so its told like a trip, this is just a venture out of the ordinary and not a regular fixture

Actually, there should be somewhere some tutorial about it. As I remember, I didn't make it up how to, but read a readme or a tutorial here.

I thought I would probably give you a bit of background information about Helmskirk.

    flagsmall.jpg

Helmskirk is infact a city state within the UK. It has its own parliament, laws and leader and is offically known as the City District of Helmskirk. The district covers a large amount of land in the west of the county of Waveny. It became independent in 1987 after a campaign by members of the city for more independence.

The current First Minister is Lucy Burns who resides in the National House in the centre of the city. She elects a cabinet and the system of justice and parliament is vaugley similar to that of the UK but without a monarch. Helmskirk is not a member of the commonwealth but is a member of the UN and SCJU. It is broken down into further Boroughs which are like local government. There are around 30 in the country.

There are no border controls between Helmskirk and the UK and, despite it's very proud populace, it still has a very British culture. The nation does, however, boast its own post, communications, transport and utility companies. Most rail services are run by Helmskirk Rail but Virgin Trains, GNER and Central Trains also run cross-country services. The only international airport; Helmskirk Brennt, operates flights to most UK airports as well as European and world-wide destenations run by the nation's flagship carrier Air Helm. The currency is the Helmskirk Pound ( H£ ) which is tied to the Pound Sterling 1:1 and is accepted in the UK.

Nice update and background info. The flag is cool. In the update above here, around the Chelsea Bldg, you have diagonal sandstone texture plaza pieces with trees, forming a green diamond by the building. I like those pieces and the effect they create. What are they? I may want some for my own CJ.

Welcome to the twelth update in my CJ. In this one we will be looking at some of the most important buildings and areas in the nation of Helmskirk. These places form the heart of government and culture in the city. Some of them old and some of them came with independence.

Very urban environment. You put quite some interesting building snext to each other. What I missed though are some "nice" ugly industrial areas with railyards etc. butmaybe they are still to come...

Impressive work on those maps! I like especially the Subway and the Reginal Rail Map.

    Take care and make Backups!

Newbridge is a satelite/commuter town about 20 miles south-east of Helmskirk. It was built in 1849 with the coming of the railway and has grown largely in the second half of the 20th century. In this update we will be looking at the town and in the next one we will be looking at it's northern suburbs of Elmsford Park.

Great last couple of updates. The pictures and storytelling are quite vivid. I especially appreciate the depth you've gone into allowing us to get immersed into Helmskirk through train and transportation maps. Kudos to your level of detail!
