My SC4deluxe did run better on my AMD 64 X2 4200+ system instead of my new system an Intel C2D 6400. Im using the same videocard on both systems an ATI 1600 PCI-E with 256 MB.

When you set the cpu affinity to 1 core the AMD 4200+ did run great with no lagg at all even in verry large regions and lots of plugins installed The c2d isnt working at all even after a reinstall and losing the plugin directory.

the only game besides BF2 i play is simcity so i really need the power for BF2 and not for Simcity, maybe an extra system only for Sc4.

I am having the same problem ! My old system performed much better than the new one !

I had the following system:

Intel Pentium 4 2.6 GHz HT

512 MB DDR Dual Channel 400 MHz

ATI AIW 9700 PRO 128 MB

And one year ago I've upgraded to:

Athlon 64 3700+

2GB DDR Dual Channel 400 MHz

ATI AIW X1900 256 MB

The game is so terrible on harware rendering mode that it seems the vibo is not working at all !!! Then I've decided to perform the following test:

- I've installed the software ATI Tools that is capable to monitor the temperature and the fan speed of the vibo and plot a graph.

- I've run the monitor while surfing the internet and the temperature was steady at around 63ºC and the fan speed at aroun 2300 rpm.

- I've started a game and played for around 15 minutes. The result was that the graph showed a temperature and fan speed increase, which achieve the maximum of around 80ºC and 3600 rpm, respectively.

- I've waited the both parameters to reduce to the initial values, reseted the graph and started Sim City 4 with hardware rendering enable and played for one hour. The result was that the graph remained steady !!! There was no increase of the temperature nor the fan speed !!!

It seems that this game is not recognizing the new X1900 graphic card family from ATI or their drivers are with some kind of bug, which has been not solve up to now !!!

I am being forced to play the game with software rendering enable to minimize the degraded performance, but it is terrible anyway.

Does someone have any guess of how to solve it ?

Thanks and sorry for my english !!!

Sounds like you'll have to manually add your card's VendorID to the list that the game reads. Give me a few hours, and I'll let you know exactly what to do.

Wow! Haven't post in a while......

Well, i've just got a new HP Pavilion dv6263cl laptop. The specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU         T5500  @ 1.66GHz, 1667 Mhz

1024 MB RAM

120GB hard drive

Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset (integrated graphic card), using 256MB shared RAM 7.gif15.gif

1.5GB virtual memory (system managed)

Windows Vista Home Premium

Graphic settings in SC4:

Hardware rendering

32-bit graphics

high city detail, low shadows, low cars&sims, others I don't remember 3.gif

I have exactly that problem when I use the 3 closest zooms in the game. And when I exit SC4, theres a warning icon in the taskbar about the graphics driver (igfx.exe), that it stop responding and that it recovered succesfully. I restart the game and it runs ok. Im gonna try this https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=24&threadid=90474&enterthread=y

The GLR is no longer included in the June NAM.  You will need the additional download for it to work.

I think everything is explained in the readme that comes with the NAM.

Before you cut half of your computing power, first, try using software rendering in SC.  I don't think with the Intel integrated graphic's that you have enough to use hardware rendering.

lipman0: I am guessing you are asking about the GLR, so, check the NAM topics. If you don't find the answer, then ask your question there, you'll get more responses there. I don't use it, so I don't know for sure where you can get the download.
