  1. I am having the same problem ! My old system performed much better than the new one ! I had the following system: Intel Pentium 4 2.6 GHz HT 512 MB DDR Dual Channel 400 MHz ATI AIW 9700 PRO 128 MB And one year ago I've upgraded to: Athlon 64 3700+ 2GB DDR Dual Channel 400 MHz ATI AIW X1900 256 MB The game is so terrible on harware rendering mode that it seems the vibo is not working at all !!! Then I've decided to perform the following test: - I've installed the software ATI Tools that is capable to monitor the temperature and the fan speed of the vibo and plot a graph. - I've run the monitor while surfing the internet and the temperature was steady at around 63ºC and the fan speed at aroun 2300 rpm. - I've started a game and played for around 15 minutes. The result was that the graph showed a temperature and fan speed increase, which achieve the maximum of around 80ºC and 3600 rpm, respectively. - I've waited the both parameters to reduce to the initial values, reseted the graph and started Sim City 4 with hardware rendering enable and played for one hour. The result was that the graph remained steady !!! There was no increase of the temperature nor the fan speed !!! It seems that this game is not recognizing the new X1900 graphic card family from ATI or their drivers are with some kind of bug, which has been not solve up to now !!! I am being forced to play the game with software rendering enable to minimize the degraded performance, but it is terrible anyway. Does someone have any guess of how to solve it ? Thanks and sorry for my english !!!
