La Villette and the 19th arrondissement

La Villette is an old industrial district tranforme in a big park with serveral museums

The 19th arrondissement of Paris is the  most affordable district of Paris and of course the poorest of the inner city.

You would have to pay me to live in that dump. Where's the pics of the riots? ghettos? all the crap that multiculturalism brings.

I've been there and it is a dump. It's no better than London or New York.

Constant riot in Paris where ? Not in those arrondissements, even not in Clichy sous Bois Aulny sous bois, municipalities where the 2005 riot started.

(Actually it is some probleme in the center, Place de la Bastille but it is young socialist who didn't like the result of the presidencial election.)

Ghetto ? Yes Paris has some Ghettos in inner suburbs, it is not worse than London, but it is a way better than Detroit.

Garbage in the street, you ve been in Paris during a street sweepers strike.

Why you cannot understand that Paris is a real and big city, it has problems like the other big city.

Pollution, criminality, dirtiness, rude and nastiness people...

If you don't like this, Go live in the countryside.

Paris is not the city of the wonders. It is just a normal city. 2.gif

I agree with you montrouge....it's like all other cities; Amsterdam bursts of criminals and gangs...there are also some ghetto's ( on smaller scale). When you go to Berlin, watch out in Kreuzberg or Moabit.

    Every city has it problems.

@ Urbanism: So multiculturalism is to blame for crime, garbage, and drugs? What are you on? Paris is a big city and likewise will have its fair share of urban problems. All great cities have this. Sorry that Paris is not like the movie "Amelie". And as for New York being a dump, clearly you weren't there in the 70s, 80s, or even the early 90s. Sorry for my attitude but your post reeks of ignorance. For someone who's name is "Urbanism", you don't seem to like cities very much. Anyways, wonderful pics!

This is going to be a weird request, but do you have any pictures of the fringe suburbs?

Does france have low density sprawl like the US and UK?

Great pictures, Particularly those by J. Ph. H. But may I ask why do you keep resizing them? Don't you see how it ruins the quality? It is really a shame! May be you could go throuhg old posts and remove that resizing to bring them back to life, so to say...

    Beautiful city...

Unlike the apparence the last pictures that I posted are in inner suburbs.

Most inner suburbs look at this, Some are poorer and some are richer.

Actually Inner Paris has the second highest poverty rate and unemploment in the metropolitan area (out 8) The first being Seine Saint Denis, the northern inner suburbs
