In April 2009 Sim Corsica finally got its indepence back from France. The new head of state was just giving a big speech on this glorious day when a terrible error occured: "Error 890: No signs of Civilization found2. Seconds later the whole island was empty. No trees, no animals and no citizens and cities! Corsica was a complete wasteland again:

Well, I'm going to change this in the next few weeks. The original Corsica has about 250 thousand inhabitants, I guess mine will have around 2 or 3 million once i'm done. I'm planning to build at least one big metropolis on it on the shore, create several rural areas and raise some mid-sized cities. I also want to build a big harbour like the one in Singapore and a big tourist region with lots of interesting sights.

Stuff i'm using:

skoovitz' accurate scale map of Corsica

Teirusu's desert mod

pegasus' rock mod: golden Sandstone

And lots of other custom contents i list when i'm acutally using them 4.gif

    First Update 4.gif

I started on a parcel in the east of my little island and named it "Macchia". It grew to a tiny little village with a population of 5.000, some farms and a small sight: the "Angel of Liberty".

Those roads are quite typical for Corsica: They are following the shape of the mountain. Cliffs on both sides, and beneath one cliff the sea and a wonderful view. At the moment the only one to enjoy this view is a lonely truck driver.

    And the region view:

Nice terrain modd you're using there 19.gif. The region is fantastic. I will suggest you only a bit of hand terraforming to avoid the giant Maxis' stone walls when higher ground.

I will come back to see more.

I already thought about that problem and these ugly walls. I think i'll solve it by terraforming the terrain to some kind of "terraces" like in rice fields to cope with the slope, but only where i want to grow mid and high densities though it might ruin the landscape if applied too much.

Guess i'm going back to "work" now and develop my region. 4.gif

Corsica's population grew a bit and regained a bit of status.

I started repopulating another parcel and named it: "Pallagiu". It's occupied by a nice little city with around 20'000 people and developed a nice amount of farmes, especially those grewing fruits. But it still has to deal with a lot of unemployment and therefore abandoned buildings. I guess the next city i'll build will solve that problem because it's planned to become a huge industrial area with a big port and lots of jobs.

    But now, some more shots:

The last shot shows quite clearly that i have to find a solution with these slopes. At the moment i think the problem might be solved by itself once these R-$ develop to R-$$ and therefore conform with the slope. The Water tower provides the entire water for this parcel and also the water for the fields 4.gif. I also built a first piece of my railroad that will later ship these fruits to the neighboring parcel for export.

Well, i decided to restart this CJ and start again with the region because Corsica ist quite more green than i thought:

    Korsika-satelite.jpg

First i wanted to go on but when i also noticed that my plugins folder is seeming to be much to big and my SC4 started lagging i decided to make a new start with a different terrain mod, and a complete re-install of SC4, and a complete new plugin collection.

Let's see how far i will get 4.gif.

That terrain color was perfect, if the civilization and people disappeared, grass could also gone with them!

Sure i also liked it very much, but i'm heading for at least a bit of realism 2.gif. It looks too much like a real desert although it is an a quite moderate climate. But i keep that combination of water, terrain and rock mod in mind for another region with a hotter climate (cyprus for example?).
