tried it and the same thing happened. the disc is slightly worn around the edges from being played so much. scratches are minimal and very minor. will i just have to go out and buy the deluxe edition or can i still get the rush hour expansion pack only? i really hate spendin money of things i already have.

find a local video or game rental store, ask them if they can resurface the disk. They all have scratch repair kits for the dvd rentals....

ehm... just to make sure: you've installed standard sc4 before you started installing the rush hour expansion, don't you?

Sometimes the simcity_2.dat file does not copy very well anyway... I suggest resurfacing the disk only if it's less than what buying a new copy is.

There's something else you might try. Sometimes it is not the cd but the CD drive that cannot read special tracks on some older cds.

Ask a friend with a reliable cd/dvd writer if you can install SC4 temporarily on his/her pc. Try to install the full game including all three patchs (sc4 + rush hour + BAT nightlighting patch). If you succeed with this burn the sc4 directory on a dvd / some cds and copy them on your pcs. make a link on your desktop and you should be able to play the game. This is NOT pirating because you still need the Rush Hour CD in your CD drive to start SC4.

I did this several times while I had sever harddisk problems over half a year and didn't wanted to reinstal the game all the time.

I think the best way is to buy a Simcity deluxe version. Thanks god that we, in Great China, only to buy it with only 50 cents. Good luck with your installation.
