    HAPPY & JOYFUL 2008!!

To celebrate this new year, I want to tell.. AND SHOW.. you that I doubled the regionsize as I told before. More playing fun for me with the western German region. It's far from finished but that all will come in 2008!! I think it should be finished around or maybe just before summer. Well, anyhow; stay tuned as I show you the new updated and extra large region views!!

    regionsattotalruhrgebieqq2.jpg

The sattelite pic, where you can clearly see the region has expanded north-wards on the entire lenght of the region!! Also some city-tiles around "Düsseldorf" have been made (far bottom-left)

    regiontranstotalruhrgebff5.jpg

A little more close-up shot, with all the highways and railways in place on the new city-tiles (12 large ones in total!!!)

Another thing to see, is the city of "Dortmund" (located far right).. it's fully develloped as well all the farmlands surrouding it. I think, it deserves a more close-up shot of the region; here we go!! ->

    totalsatunnafc0.jpg

Middle = "Dortmund", Left = "Bochum" & more Right = "Unna" (oh, and bottom is hilly "Sauerland"...)

Well, enough region-madness.. I'll going to be very busy with develloping and structuring the newly erected city-tiles. Updates will come more often as I get more to let you people see now!!

    Cheers++

    DORTMUND Ruhrschnellweg

    dortmundschnwestzoomoutwg2.jpg

Entering from the west we first encounter the " Westfalenhallen" a large convention-center. Behind it is the (old and new) stadium of " BVB 09 Dortmund"

Close-up shot of the highway near city-center and park

    dortmundmastzoomoutnr9.jpg

Fernsehturm in beginning of autumn seen from the south with on forground " Westfalenpark"

    dortmundschnostzoominsa6.jpg

More to the east we encounter the "S-bahn"  of "Dortmund" an interregional passengerservice of tramcarrages that also travel underground..

    dortmundschnostzoomoutke3.jpg

More zoomed out on the area. The junction between B1 and B236 in the east of "Dortmund"

It's good to see we have some "Ruhrpotters" around here and they can see clearly how I'm doing on the recreation of this stunning area.. It still surprises me how different the landscaping between cities can be.

    See you next time!!

    DORTMUND Outskirts

@harlem123: I don't think I will come that far north. I'm gonna expand the region more southwards towards Düsseldorf & Köln.. Maybe.. Maybe in the far future I'll come to Wesel but I don't think so.. sorry!

@petriknl: See for your answer in the previous reply.... ;-)

Great stuff there. Incredibly large region you have too. Looks very realistic from above like in a jetairliner. Love the canal layout and the details that follow. Wonderful. 4.gif

    DORTMUND Zentrum

This time we'll take a closer look on the city-center. With heavy bombings in world war II, this city hasn't such a beautiful historic center as for example "Essen". The main rail-station is north of the shopping centers and is situated on the mainline "Ruhrgebiet <-> Hamm"

    dortmundhbfzoominxh7.jpg

Main station in the city; "Dortmund HBF"..

    dortmundhbfzoomoutqg2.jpg

The station with parts of the center

    dortmundnordzoominiy5.jpg

The northern suburbs, just across the raillines

    dortmundzentrumzoomoutsp0.jpg

A total view of the area, a real maze of roads and more roads!

Next update will contain some heavy industry around "Dortmund"...

    DORTMUND Werke

In and around Dortmund we find very large factories. steel Mills, coal mining and energy plants. All very heavy industry that was build right within suburbs. Now, these project are all demolished and being replaced by housing projects. I've build Dortmund "the oldschool-way" with large factories in the city (just to apply heavy industry demandings within the SC4-region)

    dortmundwerk2zoomoutrq1.jpg

Hoesch-area in the south of Dortmund. Mostly demolished nowadays, but here in full force; large steel mills and furnaces joined together

    dortmundwerkzoominti5.jpg

very close zoom on the heavy industry.. more dirty it don't get I think...

    dortmundwerkzoomoutuz3.jpg

Westfalenhütte more north in Dortmund. An even larger area filled with heavy industry. More polluting and more dirty.. This is situated north-west of the center and is almost as large as the entire center!!
