Cheers

I'm not so sure that i'll have the time to join or work on others' maps, but here's something I put together over a couple of hours. It's my first one, so cut me some slack.

Right now, there is only one reason I can think of that I'm a little hesitant to post videos, or even just plain old tutorials, on here. And that reason is software. Not everyone has the same Photoshop. I personally have Photoshop CS4. Which does a lot more than CS3, CS2, 7, etc. Also, I have a feeling a lot of people are going to try and do the same thing with GIMP, or request specialized tutorials just for GIMP, which, sad to say, I'm not able to do for time and sanity reasons (who really wants to learn two programs when one would more than suffice?)quote>

All you really have to do is make it clear what each button you're using does... that way people can adapt the tutorial to whatever version of Photoshop/GIMP/other they may be using. Really, the terminology and functions of individual things inside each of the programs are very similar so there shouldn't be an issue.

Anyways, guys, I'm available on a part-time basis as well, however I ask that if you do decide to PM me, please make it clear what you want. I have the same rules as Porter, in that I won't do anything unless I have enough information to successfully complete a map. This means that I want the following:

    - Name of city, name of mass transit authority, what network it is. If it is a general map, tell me what level of detail you want. However, I can only do that if I have ALL the necessary maps - see below.

    - Any necessary maps - this may be a MS Paint map of the network layout, or a data view map of the city. If you want a detailed map, such as where educational institutions are, etc, either label the data view or provide a separate data view (such as health, education, etc). For stations on a city map, please label where they are, or I won't add them in. That simple.

    - Labelling of key things on the map. I need to know names of stations, neighbourhoods, if necessary.

    - Colour scheme. This is optional, though I may take some creative licence with certain maps, particularly subway maps.

    - Style. Only applicable to rail/subway/mass transit maps. Tell me if you want it done in a particular city's real world style.

    - Please don't ask me to map your entire region in detail (unless it is a small one - 3x3 large tiles, maximum). It is time consuming and my computer can't handle extremely large files at a high zoom. If it's a general "overview" map showing major roads and not much else, that is OK.

    - Most importantly, please give me credit if you use my map - I don't become very happy when I find out one of my maps have been shown without credit - all that has to be said is "Shadow Assassin made this map."

Other than those rules... feel free to PM me. Just don't ask me to do a logo... I suck at them. 3.gif

Here is an example of one of my maps: [link]
