This is a very fast growing town I just started. It grew from a tiny industrial community to a complex of commercial and larger industrial neighborhoods. I will be updating the progress of this city pretty frequently, so I hope you guys check it out often. Iam open to any strategies and tips for the up coming challenges of this town.

    UPDATE !!!

    Baltforman-Jun-4.png

The city has grown significantly since the last update. There were two additional industrial districts added, and several commercial communities developed. To the south you can still see the first industrial community. To the western and northern parts of the city you can see where I added a dramatic expansion to industry. The northern part of the city mostly contains high-tech and manufacturing facilities, and the west contains mostly manufacturing and factories. Both of these districts caused a major boost in the commerical districts, which was the reason for the expansion of the downtown area in the center.

    Residential: 81,015

    Commerical: 20,609

    Industrial: 19, 019

    Top Issues:

    Unemployement:

    Baltforman-Jun.png

With recent expansion unemployement became a growing problem. There is a boost in the job market; however, these new communities such as this one are placed far away from industial zones. There are many commercial zones near by, but many of the low income still commute to the farther industrial districts.

    Developement:

    Baltforman-Jun-3.png

This is one of the newer high-tech industrial districts, which lay in the northern part of the city. You could be wondering why the unemployement in districts adjacent to this one, but remember that the unemployement is increasing among the lower income residents.

    Baltforman-Jun-1.png

This is the community's first high rise apartments. It is well supported with plenty of shops and office buildings around it. The residents also commute to the industrial zones on the harbor.

    Power Demands:

    Baltforman-Dec.png

This malfunction of one of our coal plants proved to be a major inconvenience. The plant destroyed a near by coal plant, and a prison. This affected the efficiency of the police department, and caused severe blackouts. The two plants were rebuilt, and everything is back to normal. There are future plans to replace one of the coal plants with an oil plant facility.

    Transportation:

    Baltforman-Jun-2.png

A new rail station was added to the southern industrial districts. This rail line runs through the western industrial districts, and into the northern residential communities. This was built in hopes of decreasing the unemployement issues in the new northern districts.

    UPDATE

    BaixadaSantista-jpg.jpg

All of the past developement, zoning, transportation, and municipality projects were to fight more unemployement. From the sattelite image you can tell that I created a massive industrial district to the east. This decreased employement, and boosted developement dramatically. I will get into that new city later.

    Transportation developements:

    BaixadaSantistatrans2-jpg.jpg

From this transportation image you can see where I installed new railroads, and the region's first expressway. You will primarily see rail to the western part of Balforman City due to the massive growth, in that region.

Well an avenue could be a bit much seeming how none of my roads are congested; however I could build some subways. Monorails would be nice to; is that what you ment when you said to construct motorways?

Great Start to your CJ friend. I love the way you built your city on "sand" I tried that one time. never worked for me when I started building bridges though. it always said it couldnt be done. Maybe you're having luck at it? If so, tell me how you did it. 4.gif

Actually, because of the region the city look like it was built on sand, but it was only because I didn't have the elevation modds for it. Building on sand is easy by the way. Just lower the land until you first see the sand color, and level it. This isn't the first city I built on sand; however, this one was ment to be ge green terrain.

Ill try to fix the  picture  problems. Its very wierd how they all show for my computer, and not anyone elses. Ill try to convert the pics all to jpg. Perhaps thats the problem.

    update41.jpg

The population of the region have reached a staggering 403,000 residents since the last update. The City of Balforman posesses four major commercial centers, and a larger downtown. There were new industrial districts and city expansions as well.

    baltformantransportation1.jpg

From this transportation layout you can see a drastric change of the city infrastructure with a massive expansion of highway 1. There is an interesection of highway 1; however, all of the expressway is simply one highway since it only connects to other borders going east. There are future plans to connect the highway north and south. At that point the section of highway 1 going north and south will become highway 2.

With this new extension came controversy. Since the city developed out of control the infrastructure grew outdated very quick. This meant that there was very little room for a massive highway splitting the city in four, which meant that many buisinesses and homes were destroyed to make room for the project. The city government have been recompensating the property losses of those families and business owners.

    commercialpark1.jpg

The city skyline looks a little different. A new skyscrapper have been recently built. This skyscrapper recently stole the title as the highest employer in the city producing more than 3000 jobs.

    northeastindustrialcomplex1.jpg

This is one of the two new industrial districts recently approved and developed. It brings more than 20,000 jobs, including 10,000 for high-tech industry.

    IC31.jpg

    IC21.jpg

    IC41.jpg

This is the other new industrial district. It is built to the far west of the city. It also produced close to 20,000 industrial jobs with a majority of manufactoring facitlities.

    Harverville-May.jpg

Harverville is one of the newest cities in the region. It feeds off of the industrial town of Mt Terri, and it indirectly feeds off of the industrial disticts in Baltforman.

    1Stoneriver2.jpg

Stone River is one of the newest suburbs in the region. It holds 16,700 residents. Most of these residents commute to Harverville.

    Economic Suppliers

    3Stoneriver2.jpg

Port Stone River is the newest seaport in the region. This seaport will bring more industry to the city. Current HT districts use this port to send goods up the river to Baltforman city.

    12Stoneriver2.jpg

    9Stoneriver2.jpg

The Balforman Sanitary Commission chose to place its newest facility in Stone River. This facility currently brings 2,000 simoleans a month to the city. The Region is starting to grow very far beyond the Baltforman city lines, so this pumping station will come in handy for eastern surburban cities.

    Developement

    7Stoneriver2.jpg

    Downtown Stone river

    5Stoneriver2.jpg

The Haggard Co. Offices owns the tallest building in Stone River. It is also the first high rise in the city.

    6Stoneriver2.jpg

Ikon Inc. owns the second tallest building in Stone River; however, it is the largest structure currently in the suburban city.  In fact the protests from the western part of the city over fast developement started when this building was built instead of the Haggard building, which is what one would expect. City government did not ignore the western half of the city entirely. They only zoned the blocks bordering the river for high density, and all western commercial districts have been zone medium density or less.

    8Stoneriver2.jpg

The Booker Shoe shop is the busiest shop in town.

    Wealth

    4Stoneriver2.jpg

Stone River is home to some of the richest citizens, and has the highest per capita income in the region. The average income is 76,000, which leads Stortmyers's per capita income by only a small margin. Homes range from 500,000 on up.

    1Baltforman2.jpg

The City of Baltforman has grown exponentially since the establishment of several industrial towns and residential suburbs. It now has a total of 436,000 residents. Since there has been great changes to the city there will be several updates broken into sections of the city. This update will focus on the western commercial developement. Next week I will show the expansion of downtown.

    5Baltforman2.jpg

This is the downtown of the west or more commonly known as Finance Plaza. Some of the richest and largest banks own offices right in this plaza.

    4Baltforman2.jpg

The largest building you see to the left are owned by the largest bank in the city. Allen Corp Finance has thrived in the city since for more than 200 years. The city is 214 years old, so the bank has practically been in the city since its establishment. The bank head quarter buildings had moved to the east to seek  higher property value.

    3Baltforman2.jpg

The tallest far right building is home to John Hanks Law. It is the second largest law firm in the city, and it has the highest record of won cases.

    2Baltforman2.jpg

This is all for now. I encourage you all to continue following this region. I also love feedback, so do not hesitate to leave comments, questions, or suggestions.
