One million dollars a week... not bad for a former football player. And yet he says he didn't do it for the money. By the way, I'm accepting donations to the "Save a MayorVieira" fund.

He wants to go Hollywood as his post-soccer career? I know they expect every game he plays in to be sold out, no matter where it is. I will be surprised if that happens.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

England couldn't care less. In fact, he was dropped from the English Team altogether after the World Cup. Try reading the Guardian (http://football.guardian.co.uk - best British football site)... they are just laughing about the whole thing. I can tell you Real Madrid are also relieved to get rid of him... 3 seasons at the team, astronomical salary, zero trophies.

Footballers are WAY over payed. I never liked beckham personally (could be something to do with me being a Liverpool supporter and his Man U history i dont know). I never understood how it could be justifiable for a Footballer to earn that much when other, key proffessions get very little in comparison.

Exactly. Out of all places, LA? Does anyone in LA even watch football (soccer)? Perhaps people of Hispanic origin.

He seriously should have came to Houston. Soccer is all the talk in Houston with their famous soccer team who in their first year (this year) won the 2006 Major League Soccer Cup! Every single game, the staduim is jam-packed. And just think if Beckham came! I couldn't imagine the thousands going to Reliant Stadium.

The most over hyped and overrated footballer in the world married to the most over hyped, overrated D list pop star wife in the world goes to the most over hyped, overrated city in the world.

I see nothing unusual in that.

A friend of mine lived in LA and just moved to Maryland. He is hispanic and loves soccer, or football as he calls it. He told me that when some people think LA they think celebrities but really, most of the population is hispanic. So soccer in LA is popular but not as popular as it is Brazil, Argentina etc.

Anyways, IMO it was too much money for a sucky soccer/football player. And after the World Cup I did hear a lot about England and especially Real Madrids dislike. Now, he is going to be in LA which means i will have to hear more about him, which makes me sick because everyone thinks so much of him but I can name 20 players that are better and more successful (not by money or looks) than him.

We're just trying to get him as far away from the UK as possible. He's as thick as a floorboard and his wife's as thin and as attractive as a floorboard... just like the rest of the Hollywood population. I'm sure they'll fit in quite well.

Have to bring this back up.

My candidate for the worst sports signing in the history of sports.

    he did nothing this year.
