Image 2, phase 1I did Fairview about a year ago and CJ'ed it on a fansite that I was an admin of, which recently got shut down for unknown reasons. I remade several other CJs that weren't as successful because the original ran into plugin problems and would die to the desktop when loaded. I just found out that it just so happens to work now, but I wanted to recreate it, so I copied the Fairview region from disk and am working on another version. Hopefully this one will be just as big, if not bigger, with your help! So here's the overview:

fairview1167866691pz2.png
Surely most of you are familiar with it. Now here's the first phase:
fairview1167866977ra2.png

Sorry I don't have any panoramic photos besides this overview of the first section of Fairview (the middle of the first three) But I can take detailed pictures of any certain part of the city upon request sans problem.

Questions and requests open.

...OK what's with the pictures? Anyone know how to upload pictures? I uploaded to imageshack.net and then copied and pasted "Direct link" and pasted it into the "Insert image" window in the post editor.

Cjah: They worked for a second, but when I reloaded the page they become little black dots again. So nevermind the nevermind.

Camedia: Thanks! But can you see the pictures?

since they are .png images, they are only viewable by firefox users, or for a very short time, internet explorer users. thus, you need to convert them to .jpg images. easiest is to open the pictures in MS Paint and save as a jpeg file.

great start, otherwise (i am using firefox).  keep up the good work, i am curious as to what you do with the rest of the region!

That second region view looks really good.  I like how the highway curves so gently.

I love the red roofed houses in the third pic when you can see them through the smog!  LOL!  Every city needs somewhere to work though!

The terrain mod is great too.  Keep the updates coming!

CrUnChBiTe: I agree, it's beautiful too. My only dislike is the low water line... It turns the shores into mini fjords which is frustrating if you want a harbor city. Then again maybe that's the terrain mod...

Brad-MacD: Thanks, I'm using the Euro-Contemporary architecture set for this region. And I don't think that's smog; probably just some clouds that got in the way.

hyped_up_boy: Oh, thanks for clearing that up and with that here is the catchup-update.

    Fairview-1167866957.jpg

Firefox users know it but this was the original phase, with the first lay of highway and the first chunk of Fairview.

    Fairview-1167866977.jpg

And here is the same shot with Transportation view on.

    Fairview-1167944751.jpg

And there's the most recent update, with the whole south side of the peninsula filled.

    Fairview-1167944774.jpg

Same shot but in Transportation view.

    Fairview-Apr.jpg

One of the many scattered commercial centers of the Tri Cities. (There's a BAT here!)

    Fairview-Feb.jpg

A taste of how the highway and suburban roads adapt to the cliff side. Also note the lack of traffic on the highway. Remember that when the population gets bigger!

    Fairview-Jan.jpg

A corner of West Fairview. A bit of high-tech/manufacturing popping up there already.

    Fairview-Jan-1.jpg

A looonng street with a corner store. (I do that alot) You can see the Europeanness here.

    Fairview-Sep.jpg

An overview of Central Fairview. Yeah, a bit of smog there... 15.gif

So that's it for a day or two. Any questions, comments, blah blah you know.

Also I'm open to My Sim requests if anyone wants. (Selling some prime Fairview real estate!)

    Hello again smooth!

    Remember me 4.gif

Good to see Fairview up and running again!

I hope you make backups and such as you go along so this CJ wont come to a sudden hault 15.gif

Just one comment. Your curved highways, although look beautiful are in my opinion a bit bumpy, I like to keep highways straight or going up a slight incline.. It just looks better imo.

Anyway, good luck with this one!

Hey Banamoat! Thanks for the advice, guess I'll do that. Ugh so much work to CJ! Too lazy..... The highway thing was unfortunate but inevitable given the bumpiness of the riverside. I didn't want to have the highways too far inland, though it does branch off and go into what will be downtown. Blah. Getting ahead of myself.

Hi! Interesting start and it looks promising. I would just suggest you always turn grid off when taking shoots... it would look much nicer. Good luck with it.

    Thanks Schulmanator!

OK! The second update. Everyone already knows this, but the second NAM is out!!! Yay!

    Here are the region updates:

    Fairview-1168038363.jpgFairview-1168038376.jpg

As you can see teh highway went inland and connected to make sort of a square ish shape. This will someday be downtown.

    Fairview-Apr-1.jpg

Daytime pic of the downtown Fariview, really small right now, but the first dense developement! Yay.

    Fairview-Mar.jpg

    Same picture but at night.

    Fairview-Oct.jpg

    Downtown overview.

So that small update is through. Again, any questions, comments, bring it on. If anyone wants a MySim in New Fairview, just ask.

I enjoy looking at the new residential area, ver nice.

The pollution from your industry is a worry though.. Beutifull residential areas full of grass and trees.. and then having crowded dirty industry just over the fence.. not good.

Anyway good luck, hope to see maybe some story to go with this city..

    Thanks for the input.

OK, how about this (I'm not a good story teller)

One day Johnny Farevyu and his wife, Whyaascg Farevyu were looking for a new place to live in. Having lived in New York for 6 years and Toronto for 3, they thought they wanted more of a small city life for a change. And what better place out of everywhere on the planet then New Fairview! Whyaascg kept noting the fact that it was a freaky coincedence their last names were pronounced the same as the city, but Johnny told her to shut up for no reason. They were only five hundred miles from Fairview, but it was late so they decided to camp in a freaky forest with numerous reports of UFO sitings. They built a make shift tent out of sticks and leafs, with the van a few meters away. The next morning they awoke surrounded by aliens! They luckily had a portable radio with them, with some PussyCat Dolls in it. So they pulled it to full blast and were dazed and confused long enough for them to escape! Tearing down the freeway at 5,000 miles per hour, they were terrified with their recent encounter. But at the speed they were driving, they were at Fairview within 6 minutes, and smashed into a paper wall that stopped the speeding van dead in its tracks! They flew out the windshield with all their baggage and belongs, and landed right into a vacant apartment in Downtown, about 3 miles away. No one was living here, so they decided to make things like home.

    TO BE CONTINUED

Hey, it's been a couple of days since the last update, and I'm not seeing very many comments... Anything would be appreciated.

This one's a smaller update, and the only thing that's changed is downtown, and one more city (which I will include pictures of in the next update, sorry)

    Fairview-115654543.jpg

First tall office building being constructed.

    Fairview-Aug.jpg

First office building being demolished (due to lack of demand) Johnny attended this one. Used to be his old workplace!

    Fairview-May.jpg

    First high tech mill

    Fairview-May-1.jpg

    Shot of Royal street

    Fairview-Sep-1.jpg

The Farevyu's residences. Funny story... They lived in the same apartment for a while until Johnny left the toilet seat up too much, and they got divorced. Until Wyaascg can get some money for a new place, she'll be living in an adjacent apartment.

    NewCity-Jan.jpg

Haha, a satellite just happened to catch this shot while they were looking for a spot to stay the night/day (Some sims sleep during the day) driving to Fairview.

You're doing a fine job with this city, and I like the way the demolition shots. I'm surprised it was cost effective to simply destroy the building...

    FINALLY a new update guys!

    Fairview-1169268923.jpg

Sorry it's been a while but the region's turning out very well still. I've worked exclusively on downtown this time, added a network, rezoned, replanned and added several new awards.

First off, let's check where Johnny and Wyaascg are. They changed quite a bit, There already plannign their retirement, and are doing so with tons of cash.

    Fairview-Dec.jpg

Johnny's moved just two minutes north of the downtown core, in a very nice upscale neighborhood.

    Fairview-Dec-1.jpg

Wyaascg is across the highway, in the flat suburbs, a neighborhood quickly developing to higher wealth. Both are CEO's of big companies in downtown.

    Fairview-Aug-1.jpg

These apartments developed along the newly installed el train.

    Fairview-Aug-5.jpg

Don't ask me why, I just somehow like this shot.

    Fairview-Aug-2.jpg

A close up of the downtown plaza. Not much to say here.

    Fairview-Aug-3.jpg

The skywalk weeves between these new offices and out into the fringe of the suburbs. It gets lots of foot traffic.

    Fairview-Aug-4.jpg

When I built the church, about 70 years ago, I didn't think it would be surrounded by shadow. This is where the old meets the new.

    Fairview-Jul.jpg

Forget the name, but this mega corp holds the biggest office space in the region.

    Fairview-Nov.jpg

The big little league stadium built on the peak of the hill, overlooking most of the region.

    Fairview-Sep-2.jpg

That's a very nice place! Finally someone that does something with Fairview lol. I like all the trees in your city, the way it has such a natural look, yet inhabited. You've got a really nice place there!

PS - I am still a bit new here, and I was wondering a few things:

    1. Where did you get the mod with trees next to the streets?

    2. What road and street textures did you use?

    jacqulina: thanks!

City2TheMax: Thanks, lol I know, I build on prebuilt regions cause I suck so bad at making my own. And the mod you're looking for is all in one, called the Street Side Mod by jeronij, with several required texture packs, download them all. I'll link to them for you.

    The main mod: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=street%20side%20mod&type=all#

    The requirements:

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=15578

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14842

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=12360

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=12361

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=15796

That mod is a must have for suburban CJ's, and OMG beautiful for downtowns and basically everything.

Thanks alot for the comments guys, keep 'em coming!
