hi, im trying to run simcity4 deluxe on my macbook pro using bootcamp. i finally got it to install by running windows through parallels (i have both) and installing the game through iso images. my superdrive is acting really crazy with the simcity4 discs. it would read the first cd, then wouldnt read the second cd when it asked me to insert it. now that its installed, obviously i need to run it using disc 1. now it wont even read disk 1 to play the game.

now, im not sure if its just the screwy superdrives, because ive read plenty of other cds, etc. for example, i have sim city societies and i've installed that with bootcamp easily and it works perfectly and i run the game from the cd. maybe its just picky with some media. so now i'm trying to copy the disc 1 to a blank cd to see if that will work. if not, is there some way to run the game without the cd?

what has been your experience? i guess the mac pros have better superdrives. but i've been trying to get this to work for days.

Wait, so does this mean we can run the region terraformer mod on SC4 for Mac?

Well yes, but only if you either already have windows installed on your mac, or you have Leopard and are willing to cough up the dough for a copy of Windows XP or Vista.

Let's forget what people have "heard" and listen to my real life experience. I have a brand new Mac Pro with a quod xeon and an Nvidia 8800Gt. Simcity 4 RH cannot be played with any level of joy on this system in Mac OS. It's too slow and buggy. When I installed it on my Windows drive via Bootcamp (under Win XP), the game played smoothly and without any issue on maximum settings (including a 1920 by 1200 resolution).

This game plays much better on Windows then Mac, and I blame this all on Aspyr's inability to code it correctly.

I don't know what your talking about. All of my graphic options are set to max, And it loads as if my old computer had It all on minimum.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to edit room for your windows. I put in only 10, And I have to keep going back and forth deleting stuff to install other things. EDIT: Although, I keep having my game crash at first. But only when its starting up or loading a city.

Just wanted to add a success story in here... I just installed SC4 Deluxe (PC version) on my new MacBook via Bootcamp and everything seems to work perfectly so far! The whole process was pretty user-friendly (I'm not very tech savvy) and took about an hour. The game runs much faster than it did on my PC, and the only problem I've noticed is some graphics bugs with water transparency and invisible foundations on lots overhanging the water. The lack of Home & End keys are a pain in the a$$, but using 2 keys (fn and arrows) is a small price to pay for dramatically improved gameplay!

sidenote- I payed 17 bucks for Filejuicer, only to find out I don't even need it because .exe files extract just fine if I download them in OSX, then drop them right on my XP partition and open them from Windows 15.gif

You mean you access the Internet via OSX to find plugins? If you have problems getting online from the Windows partition due to DHCP, you can try downloading Bonjour for Windows.

I think he's trying to avoid spyware, and such.
