Im making a rural city with lots of farms. I dont have screenshots, but I noticed that on many of my farms, the actual farmland is empty and has nothing on it. There are farmlands where I have bushels of stuff growing, and other ones where nothing is growing its just always blank. And it is developed Ag zone because it changed color ones the little farmhouse thing was built on it. So how come I cant actually see the farms growing anything?

Some farms have pasture for stock, and some have fields that are harvested every 4 months or something similar. A screen shot would really help as then we would know what farms it is. Do you have any downloaded farms?

I dont have a screenshot but one of them is jez knight acres. It builds the building, turns all the area around it brown, but the brown area stays blank. The place itself is full 10/10 people and trucks come out of it exporting goods but it just looks all blank.

Farms have regular cycles in real life. A blank farm is an actual cycle. I'm surprised they included it in the game. A blank fields propose is to restore some of the minerals back into the ground that where taken out from the last crop. Most farms do not have to do this because of winter (It is to cold to grow anything anyways)

Farming takes out a lot of nutrients into the Ground. Some farmers rotate crops. Some leave their fields blank because some crops cannot be rotated

    Two thoughts:

    1. You're looking at the fields that come with SC4. Those don't "grow" anything.

    2. You might be missing a dependency if you are using farm fields from the STEX.

Try querying the fields to see if anything comes up. If no query, then you're using the in-game fields. If there is a query, look to see what it says the field ought to be. That should give you some insight if you're missing any props.

A screenshot or two would be most helpful for folks here at ST to help you fix this little issue.

there if you look at the picture youll see that a few of them have bushels and stuff and the others are just barren. Also, notice that the farmhouse all the way to the left and the one next to it on the right are the SAME buildings, yet only one of the fields actually has growing bushels. what gives?

    Ah, I know what's up.

You're using the fields that came with the game. I recognize the farms as the default Maxis ones, and they only have the default fields. Your issue, I think, is that a few of those fields are growing trees (simulating orchards). That's normal for the original fields.  The rest of the fields are simply blank, or have blank-looking textures.

If you're interested in adding a variety of farms, I would suggest searching the STEX for the BSC farms and farm fields. Once you get all the dependencies sorted out and installed, you'll have more variety than you know what to do with.

I hope that helps, and feel free to PM me if you have any more questions!

    MH..

Yup, the existing farms are dull, grab BSC and CSX farms and possibly a mod to block Maxis ones and you'll be away laughing. Does anyone know if there is a mod to block specific farms as opposed to all of them?

Apparently, the developers believe all farms are in the U.S. and some of them are in the Land Bank.

Lol, have you ever seen real farm land? Half of it is completely barren for half of the year. And its not technically barren, its a tilled field that has yet to be planted!

The game simply randomizes between the available fields and some of the default fields have yet to be planted.

Don't forget to mention the MEGA-load of dependencies to

    make those farms work.

If they'd restricted themselves to the use of maybe a dozen

additional files, I'd be fine with it, but a page full of PACKS

that need to be downloaded, approx. 1mb each??

    Insanity.

Pretty looking insanity, but insanity nonetheless.

Please note the age of this thread.  It is considered poor practice to resurrect such things.  If you are having a problem, please create a new topic.
