I just joined Simtropolis, but I began a city of 13,000 a few months earlier. I'll fill you in with what I have already done. It all started as a small temporary project- see if staying small works.

When I found it worked, I was going for the obliterate button when I saw the traffic. It was horrible. I thought "Okay one more road, then that's all. After perfecting the trafiic, I really went down to earth. I began zoning more industry and residential, until I got rich people moving in. I put in a few water towers, then finished. I saved my game and left. After a few weeks, my city was at 13,000 sims, still running on the original Coal Plant. The health so far is better than my first city- New Bernikou. New Bernikou had a far spread, few rich houses, and too much agriculture. Most citizens were low wealth, and still were abandoning the place! Yikes! Talk about lack of happiness! Anyway I hope you'll enjoy my city journal.

Update, update, update. I got some great news. I found the CD! 9.gifIt turns out that some people don't really put the disc in the right case, even when the correct case is infront of them. Either way, Critieron City awaits! (And also that SimTaco I was eating.)33.gif

Wow, an actual functioning city. My cities always have one problem or another. Either it's money or traffic or pollution, or anything else. Are you going to add pictures? It would be very much more enjoyable with visuals. Well, I'll be looking forward to more!

Well it's always great to see new faces. I'm eager to see how you come out. (No pressure, I'm not a tough critic and I like small cities: they feel more personnalised.)

Okay, I got to update this more often. It's happenning again! I'm coming up with the same problems with my city that sent New Bernikou into it's loss of favor. Well, really it's the rich houses. They are having a rather hard time finding jobs. So, I thikn I should just add a landmark to spark the commercial interest, or add industry in areas with plentiful amount of parks, making high-tech industry for those well off, slightly agitating, sims.

I'm going through another issue. The city, it's losing the whole reason I experimented with it. The reason I built it was so I could see if small, cared for cities would really give a bigger impact of the economy. Well, now it's getting bigger, and I don't think it really wants to stop. It's getting to the point where it's, well- huge. Need some recommendations on how to cut down on size without a negitave impact on economy, and without losing the rich people I had toiled so hard on to attract.

Yet another porblem. Cash flow. My income is really thinning out on me. Am I adding too many parks to a hopeless industrial area? I've devoted hours on trying to fix it. It has around 20,000 people yet it doesn't even have an airport. I've got to be doing something wrong with my city. I think I made a wrong turn by attracting richer people, but if I changed that I may send my city to the same fate as New Bernikou. I'll need some tips for this one.

Well, thanks for all of your suggestions, but I don't think it's going to be a good idea to cheat now. I don't really like doing cheats, but I'll go ahead and do it. (I'll give my Sims an explanation- donations!) But I think you guys got the wrong message when I said I needed money. I meant the cash flow from tax wasn't giving quite enough.

And by the way, I've decided. I'm going to pull the parks out of the dirty industry area and begin dezoning industry. I'll make up for this by adding them to my rich district. It may sound crazy but it'll attract high-tech industry, stopping the rich houses from being abandoned.

P.S, You wanted pictures, you'll get them soon. very, soon. I'll put them in the next post.

You guys wanted pics you got them.

The first picture shows the entire city view, the second shows the newly constructed
Freedom Bridge which stretches across Freedom River. The final picture is one of the few high tech areas. More pictures coming soon!

homeandaway: Well, you wanted an update you've got one. Two in fact.
Amerikaner: Sorry, but I just don't like using buildings like that.

Now, I almost forgot. After a long time of beating myself up for thoughts, I have decided. I will add a landmark to increase commercial volume. Pictures are coming soon- stay tuned.

Thanks for your support in my city! An update'll come tommorow! P.S, got the landmark in the city, it looks like the Tower of London, but it's very different. The London Tower had suits of armour for Sims (in this case), but my version has suits of armour for monkeys, which was very valuble at the time monkeys were found. The armour was manufactured in industrial Tegeroni. When the building was finished the Monkey armour was placed inside as a museum kind of thing. Why did the monkeys need armour? They liked scissors alot. And when I mean alot, i mean ALOT.
