Our tallest building, at 555 ft.:

    washingtonmonumentop6.jpg

However, it is not the highest point in Washington. That honor goes to the National Cathedral, thanks to a boost given by its site on a hill called Mount St. Albans. Here is an unusual pic from a record cover showing both the cathedral under construction (it's finished now), with the Washington Monument in the background in the upper left:

St. Louis' tallest structure is the Gateway Arch

The tallest man made monument in the US.

Right Now our tallest building is The Metropolitan Square Building

This will soon be surpassed by The Ballpark Village complex and the Bottle District Complex

Here's the Renaissance Center, or RenCen.  Tallest building in the grand city of Detroit (and the state of Michigan) is the 727-foot, 73-story Detroit Marriott in the center of the General Motors world HQ.  When built, it was the tallest hotel in the world - that is, it was the tallest building in the world to be used entirely as a hotel, and it remains so in the Western Hemisphere, topped in the world only by a building in Singapore.

Well the tallest in Melbourne, would have been the tallest in the world when it was first planned, and designed, but it was never built.

    It was called Grollo Tower

    s63hc1.jpg

The tallest which was built in 1986 to 2005 was The Rialto Tower

    450px-IMG_7751.JPG

And the Tallest In Melbourne at the moment is The Eureka Tower

    228px-Eureka_Tower_0944a.jpg

And future buildings taller than that

plans for a Dubai style tower in Melbourne's Docklands, they could be under plans, but now it is just talk along the boards of skyscrapercity

    This feels so pathetic:

    326kaknas.JPG

It's the tallest building (or at least I think it's a building, but then again, a lot of people maintain that the CN Tower is a building and I'm adamant that it's NOT!, so I have my doubts about this one too) in Stockholm, called Kaknästornet, and it's somewhere in the vicinity of 120 meters or so.

    Turning%20Torso.jpg

The Turning Torso in the south of Sweden is higher than Kaknästornet, and I think that the highest structure of any kind is actually a bridge in the north of Sweden.

Why do I have to be such a townie?

    1791807702.jpg

That really is the best I can think of!

Of course, I could always lay claim to fame of the Spinnaker Tower...
