Although there are vs threads on here I havn't seen a dedicated London thread. I want to show other less known parts of the city and it would be really cool if people from other cities around the world coudl as well so we can all see more then what the guidbook shows you.

I'll start with a few skyline pics in the City area.

The O2, formaly the Millenium Dome, known locally as the White Elephant.

Southwark Cathedral, notice how close the railway lines are to the building. In the early days railway companies had almsot free rain on what they did but after this rules were put in place, sadly this did little to stop the 60's and 70's office blocks that now block it.

Battersea Power Station, still awaiting renovation.

Alexandra Palace, Muswell Hill, north London, once home to the BBC.

The Brunswick Centre, designed to be private housing in Bloomsbury area it was sold off mid construction and until a few years ago was a dive, now the orignial vision has been finished.

Guy's Hospital, Southwark is the tallest hospital in the world.

A small reminder of the cities past architecture and a suprise find in Walthamstow of all places.

Yeah, London is a pretty cool place to visit. I've noticed it has really changed since I went there in '97. Would anyone happen to know what train station is near Big Ben? That's the one I got off of after my trip from France.

this gallery you put together is awesome. it shows lots of cool buildings and lots of different architecture and before seeing this i havn't seen many real life pictures of london buildings. 

correct me if anyone knows the real answer but the Battersea Power Station sure does look like that building on the cover of Pink Floyd's Animals album with the pig hovering over it.

Wow, London is a beautiful city! That one real old house is really showing it's age there! The way that the ultra modern and traditional buildings are together is very interesting. That one station's makeover (the one near the water) is really unsightly. The way it used to look was much better. Well, I've never been to London, but if I'm ever in England, i'll be sure to stop by.

The IMAX in Waterloo built in the middle of a roundabout.

Leadenhall Market located away from tourist hotspots is one of London hidden gems, more a parade of shops then a market now but deffinatly the most oppulant.

Interior of Crossness Pumping station in Thamesmead.

Mudchute Urban Farm, Isle of Dogs, east London, largest urban farm in Britain covering over 30 acres.

The Docklands last remains of it's industrial past.

A few more 50's and 60's buildings.

National Theatre

A street in Hampstead, north London and an old workhouse.

Spire House, Lancaster Gate, west London, in one of London's central quiet areas this stands in the middle of a square not sure what happen to teh origianl church.

The Barbican was an area of streets that was bombed during the war, a new vision was seen for it's redevelopment like most estates it fell into dire states but some time ago commuters saw it's key central location and now these ex-council flats sell for up to £750,000.

The three towers, Cromwell, Lauderdale and Shakespeare.

A Tramlink tram passing under a disused former railway station.

Entrance to the Kinsway tram underpass, once the jewl in London's tram network when slums where cleard the oppotunity to link the north and south networks was accomplished with this underpass with Kingsway station at one end and Holborn at the other, sadly the Strand underpass has taken over one end and all plans for city tram networks omit using this structure.

Last but not least is one of London's most recent additions.

I went to Paris from there, it will not be there much longer though. When the Channel Tunnel Rail Link opens all the Eurostar services will move to St Pancrus station.

I've only been to London once, but I was amazed at how great the city acctually is. I saw Robbie Coltrane... walked past me when I was waiting outside Forbidden Planet. lol.

I can't really top anyone elses pictures, but this building hasn't been posted yet so... this is the former "Bankside Power Station", now home to the Tate Modern Art gallery. It was built by Sir Gile Gilbert Scott, the architect of Battersea Power Station and was built in two stages between 1947 and 1963 before being closed in 1981.

I am absolutely fascinated by all of these photos. I've never been to London, and there is certainly a good mix of old and new.

This building magically appeared overnight . Nah, its just a really good render of a building due for construction in about 8 months

Also, if you venture up to Greenwich Park, this is the view you'll get. This will be a venue for the 2012 Olympics Equestrian Events.

I went to london last week to see Spamalot at the Palace Theartre on shaftsbury avenue near Soho. As I was early I had a walk aroudn teh local vacinity and managed to find an interesting building stuck ont eh side of an edwardian 6 storey building on James street.  Light was fading fast so i have had to brighten the picture. 

The palace theartre is a great building but unfortunately was dark when i got there so no picture I'm afriad.

well i hate to revive old boards, but i didn't want to start another seperate thread for this. i was just watching a children of men video clip, a movie where in 20 years the world goes into chaos because women can't create children, the youngest citizen at 18 years old has just been murder, and cities blow up by nuclear terrorists and london is the only city left and there's some pretty thought provoking pictures with alot of details.

Great pictures. London is a great city. I'm lucky to live only 140 miles west of it in Bristol. I want to go there again sometime soon.
