ok... i can''t upload MY city pictures to show you but can any of you people upload your pictures of your best ofr favorite city? I Just got simcity a few days ago and just joined simtropolis today... it will be greatly appreciated if you guys could send pictures, hints,strategy or tips. Thanks.

Here's the downtown core of my largest city -- Beyond Thunderdome. See if you can spot the two large "quadrangles" that define the downtown core.  There is also a third "quadrangle in progress" designed to signify the city's continuing growth. This picture was taken immediately following the re-design of downtown, so the buildings aren't very developed yet. (second picture shows how well the plan worked.)

Lot's of Yates and Barthelet's going up, getting a few stage 8 buildings.  I'm not aiming for population with this town, but designing a better quality downtown has really improved the commercial demand.

Thanx for replying and for the pics but what do you mean by `quad-rangles'? and btw.... how do I send pictures? do I open pics from My documents/Simcity4/Albums/then regoin or what and then how do i copy it to this forum? "An error occurred uploading a file: file extension is not allowed or doesn't exist" thats what it says when i hit upload trying to upload the pics... for every picture that I look up in albums in my documents... theres two icons... which one do I hit?

quadrangle -- 4 sided polygon.

To download images into messages turn on the rich text editor, click on the image icon, upload the image to the site (from My documanets/simcity 4/albums) and click "close." the image should appear in your rich text. Note -- You'll have to shrink the image to be able to download it -- less than 200K i think...

All photo must be in 800 by 600 at the most if you try to up load a photo bigger then that they get delited . This is because of limited web server space.

He's trying to link the files from his own computer. Link167, you need webspace to show us pictures, or else upload them to Simtropolis (using attach file before you type your message). There's probably a thread somewhere on how to get webspace, use the search.

xcalbier, the pictures weren't deleted, he just didn't link them correctly. And the 800x600 limit is not because of limited web server space (the images you link to do not go to the Simtropolis web server) but because the downloads for viewers just get too big and big pictures screw up the layout of the site. Just to let you know.

Well, now that the thread's been filled with instructions on uploading images (J/K - I was a newbie too, once), I thought I'd show you guys something really cool.  If you're having trouble designing good terrain for your cities (and even if you're not and just want some example cities to download), go to this site.  It was recommended in a thread somewhere by somebody, but I just find it absolutely amazing.  I'm even starting a new region based on his Wuphon's Reach region, make sure to check it out.

I just checked out the wuphens* reach and it IS very good... i'll dowload it later tonight... I read the thread about uploading and the link where you change to jpg i think it was and windows says its not there at this time.

to change to jpg... do i HAVE to have a speicial program cause the picture above ^ is blank with the red X cause i changed from png (what my pictures have at end to jpg... by changing the name... how do i change from png to jpg?

Also note that ALL 5 pics shown above are frm the early stages of planning... if u ppl can see it i'll post the current "stage" of it (which is for quads) and the last picture is 1 "quad" out of 4 in a square

You can't just change the extension, you have to do a  save as and use the pull down menu to select JPEG. Can't give better directions, it depends on what image program you're using.

Also, you could edit your old posts to put the pics in, or delete them. That way the thread isn't clogged with red Xs.

^That right there is spamming Come on if your gonna post. put some thought into it But Link I dunno, you may be loading your pics from your hardrive (I did that) so you can see them, but we can't, make sure a window pops up saying that your pics have successfully loaded, then click the close button so it'll load, and make you wait until there loaded, or they won't show...

In rich text when i click the mountain (upload pics screen) do i hit "UPLOAD" or "INSERT" cause upload won't work... i have to use insert... this is what i do browse in upload section copy file delete that file paste on insert screen... make 800x600 put gaps 0 and 0 then hit upload then i c the pic in the reply screen

you hit upload.... because all the links shown here are pointed to your computer and not simtropolis... put the location of the file into the bottom slot and hit upload...

also when you open your png pictures, got to File, Save As... and then choose jpg

Look u have to browse then hit upload, if u do not have fast internet, u have to wait anout 5-10 mins, depending on the pics size usually more around 5 mins. That's probably your problem...

Link167, if you want to check out pics of good cities, just visit "My City Journals". There are tons of amazing cities there, there is no need for this topic. Btw, i reccomend visiting Terracina, Fremont Project, Revised Maniax City, Jacsonville, and the cities by Paletexan. Oh, also my region (Nairobi and region ss).

I recomend Terracina: the Queen City, it must have the golden medal; I just looked at the new photo and it's amazing. BTW MayorVieira, what does the ss mean?

what photo program are you using, if its photoshop, you have to lower the compression settings to about 50-70 (5-7 in photoshop) and make sure it says baseline optimized... if its any higher then it will say that error

I don't have photoshop or any print program that doesn' come with windows XP office edition but i DO have pic2pic which I THOUGHT changed from png to jpg cause i changed it and it says jpg at end now so... what now?
