Pedestrians & Cars

When I play, I don't see many pedestrians or cars on the road, well, hardly no cars at all.

My town is quite big, 40,000 citizens i think.

Is this normal? Is it a bug?

I'm running the original game SimCity4, without any updates.

Also, when I build parks and stuff, only the grass/ground show up, never fences or anything.

help? Please

No, it isn't a bug. The amount of Sims and cars depends on your graphics settings. Go to the options panel and increase the amount of Sims and automata you can see. It should work.

they will slow the game down mind...set them at medium unless you have a really powerful PC, graphics card and loads of RAM

when and if u do get RH expansion u will see more cars especially during RH hours 7-10ish am and 4-6ish pm. not sure of the exact times. u could download automata mods here on the STEX that increase traffic to a huge degree. i dont remeber the exact name of it but its in the mods section of the STEX. be warned u need a signifigant cpu, ram, gpu to allow this mod to run well/stable. 128 card will do but i recommend 256mb videocard if u have it.

Welcome, Evacuatelondon! For the parks issue, have you downloaded the patches from the EA site? I know there's one called "buildings as props" and that may be what's causing the fences, etc to not show up. If that doesn't work, you may try re-installing the game and see if that helps. If it's only one or two parks with the problem and the rest are ok, bulldoze them and re-plop to see if that solves it. The lack of cars on the roads really isn't unusual, even at high graphics settings. Happens quite often for me.

if you don't, you'll immediately regret it when you can't use 80% of the stuff on this site.

Plus, you'll be able to use NAM which i believe (i don't have RH) will help you make beautiful wonderful cities.

Yeah...Hawkotaco's words will be repeated by everyone here if they were to respond. It's a whole different experience. Not only can you use everything you find here at ST, but the additional features make the game much better. You can find it pretty cheap . One word of caution.make sure you 1) get a new game and 2) if you buy it on the net, make sure it's the correct game for your region (UK, US, Asia, etc) Trust us, you'll be glad you got it!
