Hey yoman3, great job man, definitely looking good so far :-)   May be you can do heavy rails too in the future?

Also, thanks to Nicolais and Mr. C for indeed, saying what needed to be said.  The hostile project take-over by pilotdaryl as what many affected BATters and MODders call them between themselves in private has been occuring in several occassions.  While he has the right to create his own project for what he wants and is inspired after, many of us have already shown previously our strong disagreements with his general project management conduct.

I agree from what moderators and other ST viewers have told me regarding the hostile project take-over issues, in that I and few other BATters take "a hobby/gaming too seriously" and "need to get over it."   I agree, they are completely right -- it is gaming after all, nothing serious to keep wasting our energy and effort.  When I get tired of it, I do get tired of it 4.gif

Sorry if I am hijacking your thread, or sound like I'm flaming but please understand that they are far from my intentions and I'll be quiet on this thread for now 4.gif

From now on, I'll start projects, not join them.

Everybody happy now?

blahdy - nah I dont care thanks for the well thought out comment.

pilotdaryl - good glad you took our advice

Meastro444 - Doesnt replace a thing!! Fukuda can make over-rides so that you draw out a one way road attached to nothing then plop a piece on the road that adds the wires then drag any intersections and stuff.

I'd love this, and it would look cool, but have you considered having a positive effect related to this?  Perhpas the air pollution on road utilizing these wires could be reduced.  Also it would be cool if you guys could put bus platforms in the median of the avenue (functional or not).  When I visited San Francisco I frequently boarded at stops in the median.

I'm looking forward to following this project!

O wow alot more replies than I expected!

Brenda_Xne - Cant bug the guy too much though. I know he is busy.

1ajs - some cities still have it though and I thought it would be cool in game!

aleking - hes really do the least seen but hardest part...the modding. He has tweaked the models a little though so we should see his footprint on them!

rodent1989 - thats a very good Idea, I'll talk to fukuda about that! Yeah I think those are for the trams though. Good thought though and one I will look into!

    1. Its not mine at all.

    2. Its not draggable.

    3. Its an entirely different concept and doesnt have anything to do with that mod

Great work guys. I really hope this works out as judging from just the replies on here it would be a popular one for ciities. Since fidning this site I have got back into Simcity4 as I can now use the great Bats and Mods to create a British style region. Many cities use to have trolley buses here sadly they all went in the 50's but they would be so usful a cheaper way to link suburbs and the wires would add a whole new realism. Keep it up!

I have a question about the automata you will use. I was wondering wether you will use standard length busses  probably based on bus automata or also articulated busses or even bus trains, probably based on train automata?

Erm ... those ARE trolley busses. Only one of them has an extra carriage attached to it and the other one is extra long and bi-articulated. And, obviously, standard bus automata don't allow for either feature (or do they?). So my question was, whether the automata for the trolley busses will be based on standard bus automata or rather on train automata, which would of course allow for both an extra carriage and/or the automata being bi-articualte.

Btw. - something a little off topic: If standard bus automata do allow for having extra carriages or being articulated, would somebody care to mod something like it? I would - if I could or, even more important, had the time.

it is the ELECTRIC TROLLEY BUS project, not tram.

@kirgam, i do understand what you mean, but i dont think it will be possible. form my knowledge gathered here:

not possible to add transit networks,

so new automata for this (new automata for the standard transitnetworks ARE possible, in fact, im working on some) are impossble i think.

articulated busses, i think this is controled by the .exe, so, only buggi can change it.

buses will be based on standard bus automata or rather on train automataquote>

if you replace the trains, all the trains will be trolleybusses, same for bus.

or, based of, as i said earlier, this isnt possible.

( a side note, there is a line in the NAM RUL file, or a simcity*.dat file wich sais how many cars the train, monorail, eltrain, freight train, and underground/subway/metro, and controls the max. and min. amount of cars. so if you change that, you would change every rail based network)

i might have been mistaken, but im sure it isnt.

    hope this helps

(note to Yoman3: this isnt a project takeover, im saying this 'cause i think you might consider this post as it.)

Yes, it did, thanks. 48.gif But that's what I was afraid of. Anyway, if articulated busses are possible that would be cool. And I'd be willing to sacrifice standard busses for them, since I want to do express bus systems (no matter whether electric or standard) and they practically all run on articulated (or even bi-articulated) busses. Though I'm still looking for an easy way (since I have only little time and am more a dilletant at modding) to transit-enable stations for RHW, since that is what I want to use for the lines.

@dogscarletnyc: But you do know, that there is something called GLR (Ground Light Rail) which can be used for street cars? It's included in NAM and the respective automata can be found on the STEX. I'm actually using it in most of my cities right now. And I saw something recently somewhere round here that looked like somebody was trying to mod GLR on roads which would actually allow to have 100% street car feeling! 10.gif Unfortunately I haven't seen any recent updates about it. Hope it's still in development. 1.gif

@Yoman3: So Fukuda's really busy at the moment with other stuff, right? Well, no problem, as long as it will come out somewhen (hopefully this year? 29.gif)
